Job summary

ARAUCO - North America is seeking a Maintenance Manager for our Grayling, MI site. This onsite role reports to the Plant Manager and leads reliability, maintenance strategies, and capital projects to maximize uptime and safety.

You will drive preventive and predictive maintenance, manage budgets, mentor staff, and collaborate with Engineering, Operations, and Quality to meet production goals and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

• 8+ years in industrial maintenance
• Proficiency in SAP PM (or other CMMS), MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint
• Degree in maintenance, mechanical or electrical engineering or related field preferred
• Experience in mechanical; electrical preferred
• Ability to plan, organize and work with people at all levels
• Ability to lead a project from start to finish
• Experience in wood or paper products is a plus
• Capital projects experience is a plus
• Allen Bradley PLC and automation experience is a plus

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute reliability and maintenance strategies aligned with ISO 55000
• Lead safety culture and ensure compliance with safety standards
• Monitor KPIs for safety, reliability, asset performance and maintenance effectiveness
• Establish preventive and predictive maintenance programs and plan outages
• Prioritize and direct maintenance work orders and personnel
• Lead maintenance and reliability projects including budgeting and scheduling
• Direct maintenance for production equipment and utilities to ensure safe operations
• Analyze data to identify improvement opportunities and optimize equipment
• Drive root cause analysis and implement corrective actions
• Develop maintenance processes and continuous improvement initiatives
• Partner with Engineering, Operations, Quality to meet business needs
• Oversee equipment inspections and budgets
• Ensure training for maintenance personnel
• Establish and maintain site fire prevention strategies
• Incorporate risk mitigation per insurer recommendations
• Prepare monthly reliability and performance reports

This role is located onsite at our Grayling, MI manufacturing site and reports directly to the Plant Manager.

What We Are Looking For

• 8 + years’ of experience in industrial maintenance
• Proficiency in SAP PM (or other CMMS), MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint
• Must have experience in mechanical (experience in electrical is also highly preferred, but not a must-have)
• Must be skilled in understanding and calculating mathematical concepts (ex: calculating density, air flows, thermal oil systems, calculating horsepower, electrical usage, etc).
• Must have the ability to plan and organize, must have ability to work well with people at all levels.
• Must be able to lead a project from start to finish with the design, scope, and execution of the project
• Degree in maintenance, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or related field of study preferred.
• Experience in wood or paper products is a plus!
• Previous experience in construction related projects (capital projects)
• Allen Bradley and/or previous PLC experience, along w/ power transmission, automation experience is a great plus
• Certificates, licenses, and registrations in related field is also a plus.

In This Role, You Would

• Develop and execute reliability and maintenance strategies aligned with corporate standards, industry best practices, and frameworks such as ISO 55000.
• Lead and promote a strong safety culture, ensuring compliance with company safety standards and the protection of personnel, equipment, and facilities.
• Monitor and drive key performance indicators (KPIs) related to safety, reliability, asset performance, maintenance effectiveness, and plant uptime.
• Establish and oversee preventive and predictive maintenance programs, including planning for scheduled outages, shutdowns, and major maintenance events.
• Prioritize, coordinate, and direct maintenance work orders and personnel activities to support operational objectives.
• Lead maintenance and reliability projects, including planning, budgeting, scheduling, staffing, resource allocation, and execution.
• Direct maintenance activities for production equipment and utility systems to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operations.
• Analyze maintenance, production, and quality data to identify improvement opportunities and optimize equipment performance.
• Drive root cause analysis investigations for equipment failures and implement corrective actions to improve reliability.
• Develop and implement maintenance processes, procedures, and continuous improvement initiatives that reduce costs, improve productivity, and maximize resource utilization.
• Partner with Engineering, Operations, Quality, and other departments to resolve equipment issues, support new installations and modifications, and meet business needs.
• Oversee equipment inspections to ensure compliance with operational, safety, and reliability standards.
• Manage departmental budgets, maintenance costs, and performance reporting.
• Ensure maintenance personnel receive appropriate training, development, and guidance to support safe and effective job performance.
• Establish and maintain site fire prevention strategies in compliance with company policies, insurance requirements, and applicable regulatory standards.
• Monitor insurer recommendations and drive implementation of approved risk mitigation measures.
• Prepare and communicate monthly reliability, maintenance, and performance reports to leadership.
