Job summary

Maker's Pride in Front Royal, VA operates a state‑of‑the‑art bakery plant with 6 highly automated production lines and 350+ team members. The Maintenance Manager will lead M&R planning, capital projects and the continuous improvement of reliability and safety across the facility.

You will supervise the Plant Maintenance Department, manage budgets, KPI tracking and regulatory compliance, and negotiate with vendors to obtain best‑cost services.

Qualifications

• BS Engineering or related field preferred.
• 3+ years of Maintenance Manager leadership experience required.
• CMMS experience; MVP is a plus.
• Strong mechanical and electrical skills; automation experience ideal.
• Experience in food/beverage FDA regulated manufacturing.
• Experience in safety management and environmental compliance.
• Experience with budgeting and department cost control.
• Experience in strategic planning and KPI measurement.
• Knowledge of Statistical Process Control (SPC).
• Analytical trouble shooting and CAPA.

Responsibilities

• Develop annual and long-range maintenance & repair (M&R) and Capital expenditure plans in support of business objectives.
• Direct planning, cost justification and implementation of M&R and Capital Expenditure projects.
• Manage projects, installations and rebuilds of equipment and processes.
• Provide leadership and coaching in continuous improvement and Lean practices.
• Drive root cause analysis of equipment failures and develop corrective action plans.
• Support production including downtime tracking, safety, cost-control, and sanitation.
• Lead and supervise the Plant Maintenance Department.
• Implement maintenance processes, Preventative/Predictive programs and KPI tracking.
• Utilize CMMS for work orders, asset accountability, inventory and maintenance procedures.
• Ensure adherence to safety and GMP policies and regulatory requirements.
• Develop annual department M&R budget and monitor performance.
• Interface with vendors to obtain best-cost services and supplies.

Job description

The Maintenance Manager will be working in our Front Royal, VA wafer & cracker plant (located 80 minutes from downtown Washington D.C). This bakery employs 350+ non-union team members. This state-of-the-art facility is nearly 400k sq. ft., operates with 6 highly automated production lines and possesses a strong team-oriented culture.

Responsibilities

• Develop annual and long-range maintenance & repair (M&R) and Capital expenditure plans in support of business objectives
• Directly responsible for the planning, cost justification and implementation of M&R and Capital Expenditure projects
• Manage projects, installations and rebuilds of equipment and processes
• Engineers solutions to chronic downtime failures
• Provide leadership and coaching in the philosophy of continuous improvement
• Drive root cause failure analysis of equipment failure and ensure action plans are developed to correct failures
• Support production in all aspects including downtime tracking, safety, cost-control, and design for sanitation
• Provide effective leadership, management and supervision of the Plant Maintenance Department
• Responsible for the development, implementation and operation of maintenance processes and systems including Preventative/Predictive maintenance programs, asset downtime measurement and analysis
• Ensure the effective utilization of the computerized maintenance management system to include: work orders, asset accountability, purchasing, spare parts inventory and preventative/predictive maintenance procedures
• Develops and ensures all maintenance personnel adhere to Federal, State, local government and Company Safety and GMP policies and procedures
• Establish standards of performance and productivity for the maintenance department
• Develops annual department M&R budget and tracks performance
• Maintains accurate regulatory records and ensures the plant is in compliance with all Federal, State and local government agencies regulations
• Interface and negotiate with outside vendors, suppliers, and equipment manufacturers to obtain best-cost services and supplies

Qualifications

• BS Engineering or related field is a plus
• 3 or more years of Maintenance Manager leadership experience is required
• Knowledge and understanding of CMMS programs. Experience with MVP is a plus
• Strong mechanical and electrical skill set is needed. Automation experience is ideal.
• Experience in manufacturing equipment selection, sourcing, and installation
• Proven track record of successful project management
• Knowledge of and experience with CI/Lean Manufacturing.
• Experience working in food, beverage of FDA regulated manufacturing environment is preferred and experience leading in a manufacturing environment is required.
• Experience in safety management, environmental compliance, preparing and managing department budgets
• Experience in Strategic planning and KPI measurement
• Knowledge of Statistical Process Control
• Analytical trouble shooting experience
• Ability to calmly handle stressful situations
• Strong problem-solving skills with CAPA
• Ability to recruit, build and coach successful teams
• Ability to negotiate business deals and develop long term partnerships with vendors

Relocation is not available for the opportunity.

The pay range for this full-time, salaried position is $85,788 - $128,682/year. Individual base pay depends on work location and additional factors such as experience, job-related skills, and relevant education or training. The position is eligible for a discretionary annual incentive based on company and individual performance.
