Job summary

International Paper in Cedar Rapids, IA, is hiring a Maintenance Manager to lead a 24/7 maintenance team and coordinate all maintenance activities. You will develop preventive programs, work with vendors, and drive cost reductions while ensuring safety and reliability across plant equipment.

The role requires 5+ years of maintenance/leadership in manufacturing, with preference for corrugated box industry experience.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years’ maintenance and leadership experience in a manufacturing plant.
  • 5+ years’ experience in the corrugated box industry with heavy electronics, mechanical, hydraulics, pneumatics, and electricity experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Actively supervises employees in maintenance coordination and 24/7 operations.
  • Report to Site Manager any issues impacting plant operation with technical guidance.
  • Initiate and maintain cost-effective preventive maintenance; pursue quality improvements and cost reductions.
  • Coordinate with vendors/subcontractors to achieve desired results.
  • Manage machine reliability initiatives and inventory/procurement of parts.
  • Troubleshoot problems and make data-driven decisions.
  • Address safety concerns and participate in safety audits.
  • Plan, schedule, and monitor maintenance work orders.
  • Maintain good relations with management and staff and ensure housekeeping.

The Job You Will Perform:
  • Actively supervises employees in the everyday coordination, execution and planning of maintenance efforts, including a 24/7 maintenance team.
  • Report to Site Manager any information that may impede the operation of the plant as soon as it becomes known, while providing technical expertise regarding plant equipment and facilities.
  • Initiate and/or maintain a cost-effective preventive maintenance program and Implement quality improvement and cost reduction ideas.
  • Contact and work with vendors and subcontractors to achieve desired results.
  • Manage machine reliability initiatives
  • Maintains adequate inventories of spare parts and Purchase materials, parts, and supplies as required.
  • Troubleshoot and solve problems.
  • Make data driven decisions
  • Identify areas where safety issues could arise and take measures to proactively address the concerns.
  • Plans, schedules and monitors the timely completion of maintenance work orders.
  • Maintain a good working relationship with the plant management, supervisory staff and hourly employees.
  • Maintain good housekeeping practices.
  • Continually communicate in a positive manner.
  • Participate in weekly, monthly, semiannual and annual safety and environmental audits.
  • The facility runs on 24/7 operation.
