Job summary

Mpp is seeking a Facility / Maintenance Manager to lead maintenance for a powder metal plant. You will supervise technicians, coordinate contractors, and drive reliability, safety, and cost control across mechanical, electrical, and facility systems.

You will implement preventive/predictive maintenance, monitor OEE, and work with production, engineering, quality, safety, and purchasing to minimize downtime and improve performance.

Qualifications

  • Associates or Bachelors in Industrial Maintenance, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • 5+ years of maintenance experience in manufacturing.
  • 3+ years in a leadership or supervisory role preferred.
  • Experience in powder metal, metal stamping, machining, heat treat, or heavy industrial manufacturing preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead maintenance activities for powder metal production equipment.
  • Develop and maintain preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
  • Reduce unplanned downtime through root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Coordinate outside contractors and service vendors.
  • Manage spare parts inventory and MRO; monitor budgets.
  • Promote safety-first culture and enforce compliance with OSHA, NFPA, and local regs.
  • Oversee facility systems: HVAC, electrical, water, compressed air, fire suppression.

JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY:The Facility / Maintenance Manager is responsible for the safe, reliable, and cost-effective operation of all plant equipment, building systems, and maintenance personnel within a powder metal manufacturing facility. This role oversees preventive and predictive maintenance programs, equipment reliability, capital projects, spare parts management, contractor coordination, and facility infrastructure to support continuous production operations.The Maintenance Manager works closely with production, engineering, quality, safety, and purchasing departments to minimize downtime and improve overall equipment effectiveness (OEE).Key ResponsibilitiesMaintenance & ReliabilityManage all plant maintenance activities for powder metal production equipment including:Compaction pressesSinter furnacesHydraulic systemsConveyorsDust collection systemsCNC/machining equipmentMixers and blendersHeat treat equipmentCooling systems and compressorsDevelop and maintain preventive and predictive maintenance programs.Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, hydraulic, and controls-related issues.Reduce unplanned downtime through root cause analysis and corrective actions.Monitor equipment performance and reliability metrics.Facility ManagementOversee facility systems including:HVACElectrical distributionCompressed air systemsWater systemsFire suppression systemsBuilding structure and groundsCoordinate outside contractors and service vendors.Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, NFPA, and local regulations.Maintain plant housekeeping and maintenance shop organization.Leadership & SupervisionSupervise maintenance technicians, electricians, and outside contractors.Schedule labor coverage for production support and emergency repairs.Train and develop maintenance personnel.Conduct performance reviews and disciplinary actions when required.Promote a safety-first culture throughout the department.Inventory & PurchasingManage maintenance spare parts inventory and MRO supplies.Coordinate parts ordering and vendor relationships.Maintain accurate records in CMMS systems such as:Megamation DirectLineControl maintenance budgets and repair costs.Continuous ImprovementSupport lean manufacturing and continuous improvement initiatives.Participate in capital equipment installations and upgrades.Improve PM completion rates and maintenance response times.Assist engineering with equipment modifications and process improvements.Education & ExperienceAssociate’s or Bachelor’s degree in: Industrial Maintenance, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Technology, or equivalent experience5+ years maintenance experience in manufacturing.3+ years leadership or supervisory experience preferred.Experience in powder metal, metal stamping, machining, heat treat, or heavy industrial manufacturing preferred.Technical SkillsStrong knowledge of:Hydraulic systemsPneumaticsPLC troubleshootingMotors and drivesIndustrial electrical systemsMechanical power transmissionPredictive maintenance methodsAbility to read:Electrical schematicsHydraulic diagramsMechanical drawingsCMMS experience required.Preferred CertificationsOSHA 30NFPA 70EPLC trainingWelding/fabrication experienceLean Manufacturing or Six Sigma exposurePerformance MetricsEquipment uptimePreventive maintenance completion rateMaintenance cost controlSafety performanceSpare parts inventory accuracyWork EnvironmentIndustrial powder metal manufacturing environment.Exposure to:HeatDustNoiseHeavy machineryIndustrial chemicals and lubricantsOn-call availability for emergencies and plant shutdowns may be required.PHYSICAL DEMANDS:Frequent walking, standing, and sitting in both office and manufacturing environments.Occasionally lift and move materials or equipment up to 35 pounds.Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.Visual acuity required for inspections and documentation review.Occasional bending, squatting, reaching, and twisting may be required.Non-standard/off-shift hours may be necessary for project support.SAFETY REQUIREMENTS:Comply with all company safety policies and procedures.Participate in safety training, risk assessments, and hazard identification.Utilize PPE including safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, and other gear as needed.Report unsafe conditions or practices promptly.Promote a safe and clean working environment
