Position Overview

Summit Staffing is seeking an experienced Maintenance Manager to lead maintenance operations for a high-volume manufacturing facility in Bloomingdale, Illinois.

This is a hands-on maintenance leadership role responsible for maximizing production equipment uptime while overseeing the facility's maintenance team, preventive maintenance programs, building and grounds, outside contractors, equipment installations, safety compliance, and maintenance-related spending.

The ideal candidate will bring 7+ years of manufacturing maintenance experience with strong mechanical and electrical knowledge and proven experience leading and developing maintenance technicians.

This position is best suited for a Maintenance Manager who is comfortable on the production floor and technically involved with equipment issues, while also handling the leadership, planning, budgeting, vendor management, and administrative responsibilities of the department.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the maintenance department and provide daily direction, priorities, and work assignments to maintenance personnel.
• Support production by ensuring mechanical and electrical equipment uptime and responding to equipment breakdowns.
• Manage maintenance technicians and outside contractors performing routine and emergency repairs.
• Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive preventive maintenance programs and schedules for production machinery and equipment.
• Ensure timely inspection, troubleshooting, and repair of mechanical and electrical equipment.
• Utilize knowledge of mechanical, electrical, fluid power, and machine-control systems to assist with troubleshooting and equipment problems.
• Identify and source replacement parts, supplies, and repair materials.
• Coordinate third-party service providers and outside contractors for specialized equipment repairs and maintenance.
• Maintain accurate maintenance records, PM documentation, and equipment service history.
• Oversee facility, building, grounds, and janitorial maintenance activities.
• Research new machinery and equipment and provide recommendations for potential purchases.
• Coordinate and oversee equipment moves, installations, and machinery projects.
• Track maintenance expenses and assist with departmental budgeting and CAPEX justifications.
• Establish and enforce workplace safety procedures, housekeeping standards, and maintenance best practices.
• Ensure compliance with applicable safety requirements, including OSHA-aligned procedures and Lockout/Tagout (LOTO).
• Maintain organized, audit-ready maintenance and safety documentation.
• Interview, hire, train, coach, and develop maintenance employees.
• Conduct performance evaluations and address employee performance or disciplinary issues when necessary.
• Help develop maintenance talent and build a culture of accountability, safety, reliability, and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of maintenance experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment preferred.
• Proven maintenance leadership experience within manufacturing.
• Experience supervising, coaching, training, and developing maintenance technicians.
• Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting knowledge.
• Technical understanding of mechanical, electrical, fluid power, and facility systems.
• Experience developing, implementing, and managing preventive maintenance programs.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical/mechanical schematics and blueprints.
• Experience managing equipment repairs, breakdowns, and maintenance priorities in a production environment.
• Experience coordinating vendors, contractors, and outside service providers.
• Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
• Knowledge of workplace safety regulations and compliance standards.
• Strong safety-first and continuous-improvement mindset.
• Experience tracking maintenance expenses and supporting budgets or capital projects preferred.
• PLC troubleshooting knowledge is a plus.
• Experience with MaintainX or similar maintenance/CMMS software is a plus.

Education

Salary: $105,000-$140,000/year, based on experience
