Job summary

Pexco in Asheboro, NC is seeking an experienced Maintenance Supervisor to lead plant maintenance activities and ensure equipment uptime. You will oversee technicians, coordinate safety initiatives, and drive preventive maintenance programs in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

The role requires a strong background in predictive maintenance, Lean practices, and basic PLC/hydraulic system knowledge, with excellent communication and hands-on problem solving.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).
  • Experience in a manufacturing maintenance role.
  • Knowledge of predictive maintenance and Lean manufacturing practices.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams).
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain compliance with company and plant safety policies and procedures.
  • Complete required annual safety training.
  • Wear PPE at all times (safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, and safety footwear).
  • Collaborate with Safety Committee on electrical and mechanical safety initiatives, safe work practices, and periodic testing programs.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA and other regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee all plant maintenance activities to ensure optimal equipment performance.
  • Supervise maintenance technicians, shutdown crews, temporary labor, contractors, and other employees on maintenance-related tasks.
  • Train, mentor, and motivate maintenance team members to ensure high performance and adherence to safety standards.

Description
Key Responsibilities
Safety & Compliance
  • Maintain compliance with all company and plant safety policies and procedures.
  • Complete all required annual safety training.
  • Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times, including safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, and safety footwear.
  • Collaborate with the Safety Committee on electrical and mechanical safety initiatives, safe work practices, and periodic testing programs.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA and other regulatory requirements.
Maintenance Operations
  • Oversee all plant maintenance activities to ensure optimal equipment performance.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve equipment issues promptly.
  • Repair breakdowns and rebuild equipment as needed.
  • Maintain plumbing and water systems.
  • Perform carpentry tasks and facility upkeep.
  • Conduct regular facility inspections and address identified needs.
  • Maintain hazardous waste areas in accordance with regulations.
  • Develop and implement proactive maintenance strategies to maximize equipment uptime.
  • Plan and communicate maintenance responsibilities aligned with production objectives to achieve company goals.
  • Supervise and direct maintenance technicians, shutdown crews, temporary labor, contractors, and other employees on maintenance-related tasks.
  • Train, mentor, and motivate maintenance team members to ensure high performance and adherence to safety standards.
  • Work closely with production and other departments to minimize equipment downtime.
  • Initiate contact with outside vendors for troubleshooting and problem resolution.
  • Maintain a clean, organized shop floor and ensure proper storage of equipment and tools.
  • Keep common and individual work areas neat and orderly.
Other Duties
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by the management team.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent (preferred).
  • Proven experience in a manufacturing maintenance role.
  • Strong understanding of maintenance, safety, and quality principles, including predictive maintenance and Lean manufacturing practices.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams).
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with frequent schedule and priority changes.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
Preferred Certifications & Technical Skills
  • OSHA Safety Certification.
  • Electrical or Mechanical Maintenance Certification.
  • PLC troubleshooting and programming experience.
  • Knowledge of HVAC systems and controls.
  • Welding and fabrication skills.
  • Familiarity with hydraulic and pneumatic systems.

  • Moving and lifting objects up to 50lbs, regularly
  • Walking, standing, bending on concrete 8+hrs/day with safety boots/shoes
  • Sitting/working at a workstation
  • Works in a warehouse and manufacturing environment.Climatemay be cold or hot depending onoutsidetemperature.
  • Exposed to dust, odors,fumesand periodic high noise associated with the extrusion andfabricationmanufacturing processes.
