Job summary

Pratt Industries in Albany, GA seeks a Maintenance Manager to oversee maintenance and repair of production equipment, ensuring minimal downtime and safe operations. You will coordinate maintenance activities, supervise a team, and work with vendors.

The ideal candidate has substantial plant maintenance experience, strong knowledge of electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems, and a proven ability to implement preventive maintenance and cost controls at scale.

Qualifications

  • Must be able to read mechanical diagrams and electrical schematics.
  • Must have a good knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.

Responsibilities

  • Report to General Manager & Plant Manager any information that may impede the operation of the plant as soon as it becomes known.
  • Monitor warranties and service guarantees. Notify personnel of impending expiration dates.
  • Conduct selective inventory monthly and verify with computerized inventory of maintenance parts and supplies.
  • Take utility meter readings and record usage in computer.
  • Locate OEM manufacturers and after-market distributors to obtain competitive costs on parts or improved service.
  • Order parts and supplies. Oversee barcode scanning of parts inventory.
  • Initiate and/or maintain a cost-effective preventive maintenance program.
  • Oversee and plan contract work and installations done by outside vendors.
  • Improve career skills by enrolling in seminars, technical courses, and related college courses.
  • Must be on call twenty-four hours a day.
  • Assist in selection, evaluation, and installation of capital and expense projects.
  • Implement, maintain, and support all company policies and procedures, including safety program, and good housekeeping.
  • Additional duties may be assigned by management.

Job Description
  • Coordinate the maintenance and repair of a wide variety of production or processing machines and equipment with minimal downtime.
  • Involves checking, setting up, and operating various types of production tools and equipment prior to approving for production use. In addition, to maintaining building and facility.

Required Skills
  • Computer/Data entry skills.
  • Demonstrated personnel managerial skills.
  • Four years maintenance experience in a manufacturing plant.
  • Electrical experience.
  • Five years experience in the corrugated box industry with heavy experience in electronics, mechanical, hydraulics, pneumatics, and electricity is preferred.
Educational Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • College and/or related technical courses preferred.
Language Skills
  • Able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Leadership Attributes
  • Superior time management skills including the ability to manage multiple issues concurrently.
  • Excellent crisis manager who demonstrates that he/she has a high emotional control.
  • Excellent employee relations skills including being an active listener.
  • Demonstrated confidence including providing a consistent leadership style with an acceptable level of professional assertiveness.
  • Professional appearance to support his/her role as a managerial representative of the company.
Certifications
  • May be required to maintain a current Lift Truck Operator License and/or other appropriate certification to work in certain areas or on certain equipment.
Physical Demands
  • The employee is regularly required to walk and talk and hear.
  • The employee is frequently required to stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms.
  • The employee is occasionally required to sit.
  • Vision requirements include: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment
  • Work space is not climate controlled and can reach both hot and cold extremes (30 degrees – 110 degrees Fahrenheit).
