Job description

Responsibilities

Under the direct supervision of the Facilities Supervisor, assists in general maintenance functions of the hospital.

1. Completes assigned work orders and/or PMs in a timely manner or informs supervisor of any problems accomplishing a task.
2. Immediately identifies and informs the supervisor of any malfunctioning equipment.
3. Works to reduce maintenance and utility costs through improved operational procedures.
4. Helps maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.
5. Maintains a professional attitude toward patients, visitors, and staff at all times.
6. Varies work schedule or shift to meet department staffing needs.
7. Works overtime only with approval or when requested by the Supervisor.
8. Schedules all vacation and personal holidays with prior supervisory approval.
9. Performs other duties as required by the Supervisor.

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience:

• High School Graduate or Equivalent
• At least five (5) years of commercial construction or industrial maintenance experience
• At least three (3) years of practical experience in an accredited hospital Facilities department

Preferred Education and Experience:

• Graduate of Trade School

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, and Training:

• Ability to perform minor electrical, HVAC, and mechanical repairs.
• Ability to read blueprints.
• Basic computer skills (work order systems).
• Good communication skills.
• General knowledge of hospital equipment such as vacuum pumps, medical air compressors, chillers, and emergency power, or willingness to learn.
