United States Cold Storage, Inc. in Denton, TX is seeking a Maintenance Technician to support the Engineering team with preventive maintenance, equipment checks, and routine repairs in a cold-storage environment.

The role requires basic hand/power tool skills, a high school diploma or GED, ability to lift up to 50–70 lbs, and strong safety awareness; on-site work with occasional training and documentation responsibilities is expected.

Qualifications

• Education: High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
• Skills: Previous maintenance experience preferred.
• Knowledge of general hand and power tools.

Responsibilities

• Provide general support to the maintenance department, assisting with tasks to ensure continuity of operations.
• Maintain and replace forklift batteries and perform routine inspections for safety and efficiency.
• Conduct routine preventive maintenance, inspect fire extinguishers, log equipment hours, and check emergency lighting and eyewash stations.
• Complete work orders with detailed documentation of maintenance activities.
• Support training for equipment and assist with entry-level refrigeration tasks as needed.

Responsibilities

• Provide general support to the maintenance department filling in when training allows, and is approved, to ensure continuity of operations.
• Maintain a high level of professionalism, fostering collaboration, effective problem-solving, and strong working relationships with facility management and team members.
• Complete painting assignments as required, including working at heights (e.g., ladders) and in varying environmental conditions such as cold temperatures.
• Maintain and replace forklift batteries, performing routine inspections and maintenance as needed to ensure safe and efficient operation.
• Perform routine preventive maintenance tasks, including (but not limited to) inspecting fire extinguishers, logging monthly equipment hours, and checking emergency lighting and eyewash stations.
• Conduct regular building maintenance to ensure facility cleanliness, safety, and functionality.
• Accurately complete work orders and maintain detailed documentation of all maintenance activities performed.
• Participate in training for various pieces of equipment in order to safely maintain, inspect, and potentially repair them.
• Support emergency response efforts as required.
• Successfully complete required annual emergency response physicals, including lung capacity and hearing tests as required.
• Individual technicians who show advanced ability may be asked to perform or assist with entry-level refrigeration tasks such as completing refrigeration logs under supervision, provided appropriate training and certifications have been completed.

What We Are Looking For

The Ideal candidate will have or be able to complete the below qualifications.

• Education: High school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
• Skills:
• Previous maintenance experience preferred.
• Knowledge of general hand and power tools.
• Experience with preventative maintenance preferred.

Other Abilities You Will Need to Have

• Bend and lift up to 50 lbs. regularly.
• Lift up to 70 lbs. occasionally, with assistance.
• Work in a temperature range from +50°F to -30°F with moderate noise levels.
• Lift overhead when required.
• May require physical effort associated with using the computer to access information, or standing, walking, using stairs, and lifting needed to carry out everyday activities.
• Stand and walk for extended periods.
• Use hands to handle objects, tools, or controls.
• Attention to detail.
• Effective communication, vision, and hearing are essential for safety and productivity.
• Operate scanners, tablets, radios, phones, computers, and other essential warehouse equipment as required.
• Additional work hours may be requested by management to help manage employee production, projects, and or special events.
• Operate a registered motor vehicle if apart of daily tasks.
• Engage in frequent personal interaction and communication.
• Possess strong arithmetic and reading skills.
• Follow verbal instructions, written instructions, and company policies.
