Job summary

Toyota Battery Manufacturing North Carolina (TBMNC) seeks a passionate Maintenance Leader to support the Maintenance Department Manager in meeting safety, quality, cost, and productivity KPIs as we ramp SOP to a stable 24/7 operation. This role will oversee maintenance on the floor and drive strong technical development within your team.

Qualifications

  • Experience in maintenance for manufacturing or process industries (PLC, robotics, safety protocols).
  • Proven experience leading teams and coaching problem solving and continual improvement.
  • Technical process improvement and problem solving abilities (kaizen, PDCA, RC/CM, TBP).
  • Experience in training and developing team members in formal and informal settings.
  • Bonus if you have Toyota Maintenance Team Leader experience.
  • Toyota Maintenance Group Leader experience is a plus.
  • Toyota Maintenance Tech and/or Seibi experience is valued.
  • Engineering degree (AS/BS) in Electrical, Mechanical, or a technical field.

Responsibilities

  • Spend time on the production floor overseeing equipment and developing team members’ capabilities.
  • Verify AMT development and utilization within groups and ensure proper work assignments.
  • Meet equipment maintenance KPIs and drive continual improvement on the shop floor.
  • Document equipment operation training, PM plans, and material inventory to support problem solving.
  • Build strong relationships with production and support groups to foster teamwork.
  • Lead maintenance repair and troubleshooting activities on the shop floor.
  • Plan monthly, weekly, and daily work activity and manage cost budgets.
  • Lead kaizens to improve maintenance cost management and safety initiatives.

Who we’re looking for

Toyota’s newest manufacturing facility, Toyota Battery Manufacturing North Carolina (TBMNC), is looking for a passionate and highly motivated Maintenance Leader. The primary responsibility of this role is to support the Maintenance Department Manager to meet all Maintenance safety, quality, cost, and productivity KPI s in SOP ramp up and eventually transition into stable production in a 24/7/365 operation. Reporting to the Maintenance Manager the person in this role will support the production department's objective to produce the highest quality product in the safest most efficient manner exceeding our customer’s expectations. This posting is for multiple positions and will be utilized to fill day / night shifts. More explaining will be done in the interview process. Please do not apply if you are not able to work EITHER shift. Candidates must demonstrate their qualifications by achieving acceptable scores in all sections of the interview.

What you’ll be doing
  • Spend considerable amount of time on the production floor overseeing the equipment, developing each team member’s technical capability, and problem-solving methodology. Expected to be highly technical and have a strong focus on people development - providing daily leadership coaching and mentorship to all team members.
  • Confirm AMT development and utilization within your groups.
  • Verify all team members have full work and stretch work assignments.
  • Meet equipment maintenance KPIs, visualize the maintenance shop condition, and provide measurable & continual improvement.
  • Work with Maintenance teams to document equipment operation training materials, equipment PM plans, material inventory for solving equipment problems, and systems to monitor, track, and ensure completion to plan.
  • Develop strong working relationships with production & other support groups to foster teamwork while solving project related issues.
  • Oversee Maintenance repair and troubleshooting activity on the shop floor.
  • Plan monthly, weekly, and daily work activity for your team.
  • Effectively manage cost budgets.
  • Implement kaizens to provide effective cost management of maintenance related activities.
  • Support and lead QCC activity and team member development.
  • Lead all activities with a Safety-First mindset.
What you bring
  • Experience in maintenance for manufacturing or process industries (PLC, robotics, safety protocols, etc.).
