Main Responsibilities

  • Oversee maintenance area in the absence of Maintenance Supervisor.
  • Coordinate work activities with departments, outside contractors and vendors, and prioritize production demands.
  • Diagnose equipment failures and coordinate necessary repairs while minimizing production downtime.
  • Must be knowledgeable in professional maintenance, proper equipment installation, and food safety and sanitation expectations in a food plant.
  • Act as a training mentor in areas of expertise. Train less experienced maintenance technicians and coordinate training activities for the department as needed.
  • Demonstrate superior competency while overseeing routine equipment maintenance.
  • Lead teams professionally, promoting skill development and team ownership of maintenance standards.
  • Identify and define best practice maintenance standards and promote adherence.
  • Start/stop all equipment and locate equipment documentation (SOPs, drawings, etc.) as needed.
  • Properly size equipment components such as gearboxes, motors, sprockets, sheaves, pumps, fans, and piping.
  • Follow and promote safety programs and requirements (hot work, confined space, fall protection, rigging, lockout/tag out) and all safety protocols used by Idahoan Foods.
  • Follow and promote all GMPs as per company policy.
  • Understand electrical and controls safety basics relevant to maintenance.
  • Complete routine paperwork and understand M3 maintenance software thoroughly.
  • Respond to on-call plant needs and coordinate resources for emergency downtime scenarios.
  • Enforce all Food Safety and Food Quality programs, policies, and practices.
Qualifications/Required Skills
  • Education and/or Experience
    • Require two years of trade school and/or five years of maintenance experience.
    • Skills to properly use and inspect mechanical tools (manual and power).
    • Ability to interpret PIDs, PFDs, drawings, schematics, and verbal instructions.
    • Maintain forklift and CPR & First Aid certifications.
    • Willingness to pursue ongoing professional development every 2 years.
  • Skills Matrix: Refer to skills matrix for Maintenance Lead requirements.
  • Language Skills: Excellent written and oral communication, document preparation, and editing skills.
  • Math Skills: Knowledge of math functions like percentages and decimals, and data charting.
  • Reasoning Ability: Self-confident, mature, problem-solver, detail-oriented, organized, team player, adaptable, and interpersonal skills.
  • Computer Skills: Proficiency in Windows applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Email) and maintenance management software (M3).
Other Details
  • Work Environment: Physical activities include heavy lifting (up to 50 lbs.), standing on concrete, working with chemicals, various shifts, and using ladders, scaffolds, and forklifts with safety precautions.
