Job summary

ITW Automotive Group seeks a Maintenance Lead to install, maintain, modify, and repair injection molding and automated equipment, with additional building maintenance duties. This role supervises 3 direct reports and reports to the Maintenance Manager, coordinating vendors and parts orders to keep manufacturing running smoothly.

The ideal candidate has 7+ years of electromechanical technical experience, preferably in plastics, with PLC troubleshooting, blueprints literacy, and strong

Qualifications

  • Must have 7+ years of technical experience in manufacturing or plastics.
  • Electromechanical background with hands-on machine troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to read blueprints, schematics and SOPs.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and oversee vendors and parts for facilities and equipment.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair molding and automated machinery.
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance per schedule.
  • Maintain repair records and ensure OSHA safety compliance.
  • Lead and develop a small maintenance team and coordinate OT as needed.

Job description

The Maintenance Lead will be responsible for installing, maintaining, modifying, and repairing a wide variety of injection molding and assembly machines along with other automated equipment. Must also be able to perform building maintenance. This position has 3 direct reports and reports to the Maintenance Manager.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Coordinate and oversee vendors for both facilities and equipment, this will include issuing PO’s.
  • Work with blueprints, schematics, SOP’s and machine manuals
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair a variety of molding and automated machinery using available technology
  • Will be required to order parts
  • Operate drill press, grinder, welding, and other maintenance equipment to fabricate or repair parts
  • Ability to troubleshoot/diagnose Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC)
  • Working knowledge of programming of PLCs a plus
  • Perform troubleshooting on mechanical, hydraulic and pneumatic powered, electronically controlled robotic systems
  • Ability to use precision measuring equipment and electrical testing instruments associated with a manufacturing setting
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance functions per schedule
  • Ability to maintain computer-based machine repair and PM records system
  • Comply with OSHA and all safety practices in repair and installation
  • Follow safety rules and keep work area in a clean and orderly condition
  • Other tasks and duties as assigned

Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum two-year degree in Electromechanical Technology or equivalent work experience and training
  • Specialty certification for Hydraulics, pneumatics, and electrical
  • At least 7 years' technical experience, plastic injection molding preferred, along with hands-on experience with raw materials, mold set-up, and troubleshooting skills for electric injection machines and auxiliary equipment
  • Effective communicator, both written and verbal (English); good visual skills and reasoning ability
  • Ability to maintain accurate records
  • Ability to lift 55 lbs.
  • Above basic math skills and reasoning ability
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to perform preventive maintenance functions
  • Availability to work overtime and weekends as needed
  • Ability to convert customer specifications to value added solutions
Skills / Knowledge
  • Knowledge of the seating and automotive industry is preferred
  • Understanding of plastic injection molding, tooling and assembly process

Special Requirements

Position requires travel, primarily within assigned region (approx. 5-10%). Must have valid driver’s license and good driving record. Must be able to travel internationally, if required.
