Job summary

Linamar Corporation in Michigan is seeking a Maintenance Laborer to enhance safety and environmental practices by reducing workplace hazards and injuries. You will advise the supervisor of unsafe conditions and equipment problems.

Responsibilities include handling spills as First Responder, operating floor sweepers, proper waste sorting and recycling, and performing routine maintenance tasks while adhering to OSHA, ISO14001, and QMS standards.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to stand, bend, and stoop for long periods.
  • Ability to lift up to 55 pounds regularly.
  • Must work onsite for meetings and collaboration.
  • Strong teamwork and communication skills.
  • Basic reading, writing and math skills.

Responsibilities

  • Assist as First Responder to handle spills.
  • Collect, sort non-trash items and dump trash.
  • Collect sort non-recyclable items and dump recyclables.
  • Perform safety and maintenance tasks.
  • Operate floor sweeper daily.
  • Remove trash from shop floor daily.
  • Follow OSHA Safety Standards and ISO14001 Environmental Standards.
  • Work with Chemical Management System to stay compliant.
  • Attend trainings to learn new technologies and techniques.
  • Clean all machinery and/or equipment with the steam cleaning unit.
  • Transport and recycle aluminum chips and trim flash daily.
  • Follow Health, Safety and Environmental Program and QMS.
  • Adhere to Quality Policy.

Job Summary:

The Maintenance Laborer works to continuously improve safety and environmental impact by minimizing or eliminating workplace hazards and injuries. They advise the supervisor of any unsafe conditions or equipment problems.

Responsibilities
  • Assists as First Responder to handle and contain any type of spills
  • Collect, sort (non-trash items) and dump trash into trash compactor
  • Collect sort (non-recyclable items) and dump recyclables into recyclable compactor
  • Perform safety and maintenance preventative maintenance tasks
  • Operate floor sweeper daily or as required
  • Remove trash from shop floor daily
  • Thorough understanding of Material Safety Data Sheets
  • Required to follow any other instructions and to perform any other duties upon request of the supervisor
  • Clean all machinery and/or equipment with the steam cleaning unit
  • Transport and recycle aluminum chips and trim flash daily
  • Complies with the following OSHA Safety Standards: Hazard Communication; Bloodborne Pathogens; Lockout; Permit Required Confined Space; Hot Work Permit; Powered Industrial Trucks; P.P.E. and Ergonomics
  • Complies with ISO14001 Environmental Standards
  • Works closely with Chemical Management System to maintain compliance
  • When necessary, participate in classes and training seminars to learn new technologies and techniques deemed helpful to performance on the job
Academic Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent required

  • Able to operate fork trucks and aerial lift along with operating a power washer
  • Posses a well-rounded understanding of the equipment in our facility

  • Ability to stand, bend, and stoop for long periods of time
  • Ability to lift, push, and pull heavy objects up to 55 pounds regularly
  • Ability to read, write, perform basic math calculations, and complete visual inspections
