Job summary

Progressive Protein in Omaha, NE is seeking a mechanically inclined maintenance technician to support production by performing preventative maintenance, preparing floors for production, and troubleshooting equipment. Candidates must be able to stand for long periods, lift up to 50 pounds, and work in a loud, fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative maintenance for assigned area.
  • Set up floor and prepare production areas as needed.
  • Troubleshoot and repair machinery to minimize downtime.
  • Document maintenance work orders and activities.

Position Requirements
  • An ability to stand for long periods of time
  • to be capable of working in awkward positions such as on your back, bent over, etc. for prolonged periods of time
  • being able to work in the cold and heat
  • able to lift at least 60 pounds
  • would be responsible for completing Preventative Maintenance for assigned area, as well as perhaps others if asked to do so
  • would be responsible for setting up the floor in preparation for production in their respective areas or anywhere else they are asked to help
  • having the willingness to learn and take initiative while on the job.
  • be capable of following orders even under high stress situations such as maydays in order to prevent downtime.
  • some experience with computers would also be optimal in order to complete pms, workorders, vector training etc.
Physical Requirements
  • Prolonged periods of standing and walking.
  • Able to bend, stretch, push, pull, and move as needed to reach clean, and service machinery.
  • Must be able to visually inspect machines.
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
Work Environment

The environment that individuals will be working in can fluctuate. Employees will be required to stand for anywhere between 4 – 6 hours, sometimes on a platform. They will frequently have to push, pull or lift to 30 pounds and occasionally push, pull, or lift to 50 pounds. Sharp objects such as knives, hooks, steel, and saws are utilized to perform the duties listed herein. The noise level is often loud, and hearing protection must be worn at all times. Additional PPE that may be required are safety glasses, mesh gloves/aprons, frocks, steel-toed boots, hard hats, face shields, surgical masks, and, in some cases, fall protection.
