Job summary

Greater Omaha Packing Co., Inc. is seeking a maintenance associate to support production by performing preventive maintenance, setting up floors for production, and following instructions under high-stress conditions.

The role requires standing for long periods, lifting up to 60 pounds, and working in cold and heat with appropriate PPE. Candidates should be organized, detail oriented, and able to use basic computer tools for PMs and work orders.

Position Requirements

• Mechanically inclined with great problem-solving skills.

• An ability to stand for long periods of time
• Capable of working in awkward positions such as on your back, bent over, etc. for prolonged periods of time
• Ability to work in the cold and heat
• Ability to lift at least 60 pounds
• Responsible for completing Preventative Maintenance for assigned area, as well as perhaps others if asked to do so
• Responsible for setting up the floor in preparation for production in their respective areas or anywhere else they are asked to help
• Willingness to learn and take initiative while on the job.
• Capable of following orders even under high stress situations such as maydays in order to prevent downtime.
• Some experience with computers would also be optimal in order to complete PMs, workorders, vector training etc.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Prolonged periods of standing and walking.
• Able to bend, stretch, push, pull, and move as needed to reach clean, and service machinery.
• Must be able to visually inspect machines.
• Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
• The environment that individuals will be working in can fluctuate. Employees will be required to stand for anywhere between 4 – 6 hours, sometimes on a platform. They will frequently have to push, pull or lift to 30 pounds and occasionally push, pull, or lift to 50 pounds. Sharp objects such as knives, hooks, steel, and saws are utilized to perform the duties listed herein. The noise level is often loud, and hearing protection must be worn at all times. Additional PPE that may be required are safety glasses, mesh gloves/aprons, frocks, steel-toed boots, hard hats, face shields, surgical masks, and, in some cases, fall protection.
