Job summary

Hexcel in Kent, WA is seeking a Maintenance Journeyman to support industrial operations across our facilities. The role emphasizes mechanical and electrical maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair to keep production running.

You will work with motors, valves, pneumatics, and CNC equipment, read diagrams, and comply with lockout/tagout procedures. Must have own tools and be able to work varied shifts; overtime may be required.

Qualifications

  • Four years of journey-level mechanical experience in industrial maintenance and repair.
  • Able to read electrical diagrams; familiar with 480V, 3-phase power.
  • Must have own tools; forklift, snorkel and scissor lift certifiable.

Responsibilities

  • Working with motors, gearboxes, hydraulic/pneumatic systems, pumps, and related components.
  • Installation, adjustment, or repair of valves, pipes, and fluid control devices.
  • Work with CNC machinery, autoclaves, ovens, and electrical troubleshooting.
  • Support HVAC units, lighting, and electrical distribution systems.
  • Interface with operators and maintenance staff to complete assignments.

Job Overview

Hexcel is looking for a Maintenance Journey for their Kent, WA location.

Salary

Summary pay range: $35.95 – $42.30 hourly wage rate.

Responsibilities
  • Working with motors, gearboxes, rigging, hydraulic systems, pneumatic systems, screw compressors, lubrication systems, vacuum and fluid pump.
  • Installation, adjustment, or repair of valves, pipes, and various fluid control devices.
  • Multi-axis CNC machinery and controls, autoclaves, ovens, electrical troubleshooting with logic controllers and analog instrumentation.
  • Work with plant power and lighting systems - installation or modification of lights and electrical outlets, breakers, and junction boxes.
  • Replacement of fuses, and electrical components in systems up to 480V.
  • Troubleshooting basics of HVAC units and freezers, industrial fans.
  • Facility support including: light plumbing, light carpentry, basic welding and machining or metal fabrication.
  • Interface with equipment operators, work order originators (internal customers) and Maintenance Department personnel to complete assignments.
  • Support other Journeys and other department personnel on combined (electrical and mechanical) projects.
Requirements
  • Four years of recent Journey level mechanical experience in industrial maintenance and repair with strong emphasis on daily support of operations, troubleshooting and repair of mechanical and electrical service and systems.
  • Able to read electrical diagrams and wiring instructions; familiar with 480V, 3 phase power and industrial electrical systems; experience with programming of PLC’s a plus but not required.
  • Familiarity with common industrial components and equipment: motors, valves, switches, sensors, belt and chain drive mechanisms.
  • Must be forklift, snorkel and scissor lift certifiable.
  • Experience with light carpentry, basic welding and machining is required.
  • Flexibility to work 1st, 2nd or 3rd shift, as well as weekday and weekend overtime; available to respond to off-hour emergencies on occasion; able to work outside in all weather conditions.
  • Must have own tools.
  • Must have working knowledge of lockout / tag out procedures in an industrial environment.
  • Ability to push/pull/lift up to 50 lbs.; able to work at heights with fall protection or in confined spaces (with protection).
  • Eligible candidates must be a: U.S. citizen, U.S. national, person lawfully admitted for permanent residence, temporary resident under sections 210(a) or 245(A) of the Immigration and Nationality Act, person admitted in refugee status, or person granted asylum.
