Job Summary

Under the direction of the Maintenance and Automation Manager, the Maintenance Inventory and Purchasing Clerk is responsible for managing spare parts, critical spares and consumables inventory for maintenance and automation teams; executes purchasing of parts and supplies; maintains accurate inventory records; prepares the annual maintenance repair budget; and develops year‑over‑year operational cost‑saving proposals while ensuring parts availability. This will be achieved while maintaining HellermannTyton Quality and EHS certifications by supporting all corporate policies, procedures, work instructions, and required documentation.

Essential Functions

  • Maintain accurate stock levels, item master data, bin locations, and reorder points for all parts, critical spares, consumables, and supplies for presses, robots, automation, auxiliary and other equipment, and the department.
  • Execute scheduled inventory cycle counts; investigate variances; reconcile to ERP/CMMS (e.g., MP2/EQMS).
  • Create purchase requisitions; manage vendor quotes, lead times, and delivery schedules; elevate shortages for critical repairs.
  • Compile the annual maintenance repair budget (parts, consumables, tooling, services); track actual spend vs. planned spend; prepare variance explanations and forecasts.
  • Analyze historical spending; identify cost savings opportunities through consolidation, bulk buys, and alternative sourcing; advise on repair vs replace decisions; propose YoY savings targets and initiatives.
  • Publish monthly Inventory Accuracy, Stockout Rate, Budget Adherence, and spend reports; maintain compliance with audit and purchasing controls.
  • Partner with the Maintenance Planner and the Maintenance and Automation Technicians to forecast parts needs tied to PM schedules and other planned maintenance activities (equipment installation, changeovers, etc.).
  • Maintain a critical spares list.

Other Functions

  • Maintain housekeeping and 5S standards.
  • Document all procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Success in this role will require

  • ERP/CMMS Proficiency: Ability to work with inventory modules, work orders, and item master data.
  • Procurement Software: Ability to work with procurement software (JDE), to create purchase requisitions, view history, and track expenses.
  • Reporting Skills: Ability to work with Excel and other software tools to develop and maintain pivot tables, variance analysis, and trend charts.
  • Procurement and Vendor Management: Ability to request quotations, understand terms, manage lead times, negotiate pricing and build relationships with vendors.
  • Analytical Mindset: Ability to do demand forecasting, perform root cause analysis, make strategic purchasing decisions, identify cost optimization opportunities, do inventory prioritization, and implement data‑driven process improvements.
  • Methodical: Excels in organization, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Communication: Ability to interact with technical team members and suppliers.
  • Accuracy & Compliance: Ability to maintain auditable records and adhere to purchasing controls.
  • Cost Awareness: Ability to identify opportunities for cost savings without compromising on quality.
  • Collaboration: Ability to align with maintenance, automation, and operations teams on priorities and forecasts.
  • Problem ‑ Solving: Ability to resolve shortages and reconcile discrepancies quickly.

What You'll Bring

  • High school diploma or equivalency required.
  • 2+ years of experience preferred.
  • Ability to lift/push/pull up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to perform basic math required.
  • Excellent time management, prioritization, and organizational skills.
  • Computer skills including data entry and familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Forklift experience preferred.
  • Ability to work overtime as needed.
