Job summary

The City of Springdale, AR is seeking an individual to perform ongoing maintenance of lawns and landscaped areas under the Public Works Department. The incumbent will provide customer service to internal and external customers and maintain regular attendance.

Responsibilities include mowing, trimming, edging, operating mowing equipment, planting and trimming landscape features, and leading a small crew. A valid Arkansas driver's license and related experience are required; a Master Gardener

Qualifications

• 7 to 11 months of related experience and/or training.
• Must possess a valid Arkansas Driver's License.
• Master Gardener certification or equivalent training/experience preferred.
• Proficient in the use of a work truck, tools, and various maintenance equipment.
• Ability to utilize both internal and external resources to obtain information and data necessary to carry out routine assignments and special projects.
• Must have ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with management and staff.
• Experience installing and maintaining landscape projects is preferred.

Safety/Security Sensitive Designation: This position is classified as safety/security sensitive under the Arkansas Medical Marijuana Amendment and is therefore subject to random drug and alcohol testing.

• Provide good customer service to both internal and external customers; maintain positive and effective working relationships with other City employees (especially members of their own team), and have regular and reliable attendance that is non-disruptive.
• Perform lawn mowing, trimming and edging.
• Operate brush hog and specialty mowing equipment.
• Perform weeding and watering of landscape areas.
• Plant landscape areas as directed.
• Trim trees and shrubs.
• Act as crew leader for small landscape crew.
• Perform general maintenance duties as directed.
