Job summary

City of Springdale, AR is seeking a Heavy Equipment Operator to operate a tractor, roller, broom, and dump truck for City projects. The role requires CDL or the ability to obtain one within 6 months and IMSA Work Zone certification within 6 months.

The incumbent will provide excellent customer service to internal and external customers, maintain reliable attendance, and perform routine maintenance on vehicles and equipment as needed.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED plus related training and/or college coursework and 2 years of related experience and/or training.
• Must possess a valid Arkansas Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or be able to acquire a CDL within 6 months of initial hire date.
• Obtain necessary IMSA Work Zone certification(s) within 6 months of initial hire date.
• Must be proficient in the use of a dump truck, roller, broom, and tractor.
• Ability to utilize internal and external resources to obtain information and data necessary to carry out routine assignments and special projects.
• Must have ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with management and staff.

Job description

The incumbent is responsible to operate various heavy equipment machines in conjunction with City projects. Safety/Security Sensitive Designation: This position is classified as safety/security sensitive under the Arkansas Medical Marijuana Amendment and is therefore subject to random drug and alcohol testing.

• Provide good customer service to both internal and external customers; maintain positive and effective working relationships with other City employees (especially members of their own team), and have regular and reliable attendance that is non-disruptive.
• Operate a tractor.
• Operate a roller.
• Operate a broom.
• Operate a dump truck.
• Perform maintenance and servicing of truck when needed.
• Operate all other departmental maintenance equipment.
• Perform other duties as required or assigned.
