Maintenance Worker II

The University of Pittsburgh at Bradford is seeking qualified applicants to join our Facilities Management team. The position is classified as Maintenance Worker II in accordance with the terms set forth with Local Union No. 95-95A International Union of Operating Engineers.

Maintenance II per CBA: $22.41 per hour
Job Summary

Responsible for the general and craft maintenance of the residence halls, operation of University equipment, preventive and scheduled maintenance to support special events, projects, conferences, planned utility outages and activities sponsored by individuals/groups using the campus facilities.

Essential Functions
Duties for this position include but are not limited to:
  • General and craft maintenance of all campus buildings, including the residence halls.
  • Care for campus grounds, including mowing, trimming, mulching, and seasonal landscaping.
  • Handle snow and ice removal, by machine and by hand, to keep the campus safe in winter months.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on tools, machinery, and equipment.
  • Support special events, projects, conferences, planned utility outages, and activities sponsored by individuals/groups using the campus facilities.
Requirements

This mid-level maintenance position demands a thorough understanding of standard industry systems, requiring a minimum of a high school diploma/GED. Three years’ experience with related systems and a valid motor vehicle operator’s license. To perform duties, sufficient strength and physical dexterity are expected, including heavy lifting.

**Preference will be given to applicants who have a pool operator certification or are willing to obtain the certification. Certification comes with an additional pay differential, according to the collective bargaining agreement.

Physical Effort

Heavy physical effort required. Requires extensive standing, moving, ascend/descend, bending, lifting, and/or carrying. May be required to move objects over 50 pounds with or without assistance of equipment.
