Job summary

Nucor in Houston is seeking hands-on team members for outdoor roles focusing on safety and reliability. You will support operations, assist with maintenance, and help load/unload materials while keeping safety as a top priority.

Responsibilities include following policies, collaborating with teammates, and assisting with welding or cutting tasks as needed. A strong work ethic and good communication are essential; bilingual Spanish is a plus.

Qualifications

• 2 years of outdoor work experience.
• Strong verbal communication with teammates and customers.
• Ability to work well in a team setting.
• Monday to Friday: 6 AM - 4 PM; occasional Saturdays 6 AM - 12 PM for critical repairs and maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Uphold safety policies, practices, and housekeeping standards at all times.
• Maintain processing equipment and assist with welding, cutting, fabrication, and repairs as needed.
• Perform hands-on maintenance and repair work on shredder-related equipment.
• Support fellow team members and assist with various tasks to achieve goals.
• Assist and guide customers to unloading locations.

Basic Job Functions:

Safety is the most important part of all jobs within Nucor; therefore, candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to initiate, lead, and uphold safety policies, practices, procedures, and housekeeping standards at all times.

• Safety First: Lead by example in always following and promoting safety policies and procedures
• Maintenance of processing equipment, to include cleaning as needed:
• Help identify worn, damaged, or unsafe equipment conditions
• Assist with welding, cutting, fabrication, and mechanical repairs as needed
• Perform hands-on maintenance and repair work on shredder-related equipment
• Team Collaboration: Support fellow team members and assist with various tasks as needed to achieve our goals.
• Customer Service: Assist and guide customers to the appropriate locations for unloading materials.

Pay starts at $20-$24

Minimum Qualifications:

• 2 years of experience in working outdoors.
• Dependable attendance and punctuality.
• Strong verbal communication skills for effective interaction with teammates and customers.
• Ability to work well in a team setting.
• Monday to Friday: 6 AM - 4 PM-Occasional Saturdays: 6 AM - 12 PM (as needed during critical repairs and maintenance)

Preferred Qualifications:

• Familiarity with heavy equipment and manufacturing is preferred.
• Bilingual candidates (Spanish) are encouraged to apply.
