Responsibilities

  • Production equipment repairs — emergency and scheduled maintenance.
  • Diagnostics & troubleshooting — electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic issues.
  • Electrical systems work — install, maintain, repair components and control panels.
  • Plumbing & facility systems — maintain water lines and infrastructure.
  • Equipment documentation — read manuals, schematics, and work orders.
  • Detect faulty operations and report issues to leadership.
  • Refrigeration diagnostics — repair leaks, compressors, rack systems and walk-ins.
  • Digital controls — configure and calibrate DDC and energy management systems.
  • Perform routine checks to ensure HVAC/R operation.
  • Track refrigerant usage and maintain EPA logs.

Salary Range: $27.00 To $30.00 Hourly

Position Summary: The Maintenance & HVAC/R Technician supports the safe, efficient, and reliable operation of all production equipment, facility systems, and HVAC/Refrigeration assets. This role performs installation, troubleshooting, repair, and preventive maintenance across electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, plumbing, HVAC, and refrigeration systems. The Technician ensures equipment uptime, resolves technical issues, and maintains compliance with safety and regulatory standards.

Equipment & Facility Maintenance

  • Production equipment repairs — Perform emergency and scheduled maintenance on industrial machinery.
  • Diagnostics & troubleshooting — Identify mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and control-related issues; replace or repair parts; test and adjust systems.
  • Electrical systems work — Install, maintain, and repair electrical components, switches, fuses, motors, and control panels.
  • Plumbing & facility systems — Maintain facility plumbing, water lines, and related infrastructure.
  • Equipment documentation — Read and interpret manuals, schematics, and work orders to perform accurate repairs.
  • Detect faulty operations, defective materials, and unusual conditions; report issues to leadership.
  • Refrigeration diagnostics — Diagnose and repair refrigerant leaks, compressors, rack systems, walk‑ins, reach‑ins, and low ambient systems.
  • Digital controls — Configure and calibrate direct digital controls (DDC) and energy management systems.
  • Perform routine checks to ensure proper operation of HVAC/R systems and environmental controls.
  • Track refrigerant usage, reclaim refrigerants, and maintain EPA‑required documentation.

Preventive Maintenance & Compliance

  • Preventive maintenance programs — Implement PM schedules to reduce downtime and extend equipment life.
  • Follow OSHA, EPA 608, and applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Maintain accurate records of work orders, inspections, refrigerant logs, and parts usage.

Operational Support & Teamwork

  • Operate forklifts, overhead cranes, and heavy machinery safely (certification required).
  • Coordinate service calls, scheduling, and workload using digital tools.
  • Communicate effectively with internal teams and external service providers.
  • Maintain company vehicles and ensure safe operation during service calls.

Maintenance Technician Skills and Specifications:

  • Ability to safely operate and obtain certification to operate a fork truck.
  • Ability to read and understand electrical schematics and diagrams.
  • Ability to read and understand hydraulic schematics and diagrams.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to operate forklifts, overhead cranes, and heavy equipment safely.
  • Computer proficiency for data entry, scheduling, and digital work orders.
  • Understanding of HVAC systems, refrigeration cycles, and DDC controls.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong communication and customer interaction skills.
  • Willingness to work additional hours to meet operational needs.
  • Able to engage in other duties as assigned.

Maintenance Technician Education and Qualifications:

  • High School diploma or equivalent (GED).
  • EPA 608 Universal Certification required.
  • 2 years in HVAC/R experience required. Industry credentials in HVAC/R preferred.

Maintenance Technician Physical Requirements:

  • While performing the duties of Maintenance & HVAC/R Technician, the employee is continually required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; balance; stoop, kneel, and crouch. The employee is occasionally required to crawl; talk or hear; taste or smell. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 45 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • While performing the duties of Maintenance Technician, the employee is exposed to moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles; extreme cold and extreme heat. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
