Children's Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA) is seeking a Maintenance Helper I to support skilled trades in preventive maintenance, inspections, and minor repairs across hospital facilities. The role focuses on reliability, safety, and aesthetics of the hospital environment, working under journey-level carpenters, electricians, plumbers, or HVAC techs.
The ideal candidate has 0-1 year of maintenance experience and a valid California driver's license.
Schedule: Monday-Friday, Day Shift
Purpose Statement/Position Summary: The Maintenance Helper I assist in ensuring the smooth operation of hospital facilities by supporting skilled craftsmen in various maintenance tasks. With a focus on preventive maintenance, inspections, and minor repairs, this role contributes to the overall functionality, safety, and aesthetics of the hospital environment.
Performs preventive, corrective maintenance, and project-related duties of a recognized skilled craft or trade while assisting a journey-level carpenter, electrician, plumber, HVAC, or maintenance mechanic. Typically specializes in one or more of the construction craft trades such as Carpentry, Electrical, Plumbing, or Refrigeration, and works at a skill level equivalent to that of an advanced apprentice. Performs routine Preventive Maintenance which does not require the skills of a journey-level craft technician on various pieces of hospital equipment and systems. May be expected to drive CHLA vehicle during worked hours.
Minimum Qualifications/Work Experience: 0-1 Year of experience in residential or industrial maintenance experience. Valid California Drivers License required. Adherence to CHLA Operation of Vehicles for Business Purposes Policy.
Education/Licensure/Certification: High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
