Job summary

Montgomery Public Schools is seeking a Maintenance Helper to support building operations across campus facilities.

The role covers plumbing, electrical, carpentry and HVAC tasks, with a focus on keeping school plants in good repair and ready for instructional use.

Twelve-month position with a district salary scale; standard evaluations and opportunity to contribute to a safe and functional learning environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Proven knowledge in all maintenance phases (plumbing, electrical, carpentry, HVAC, etc.).
• Any other qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable

REPORTS TO

Transportation and Maintenance Director, Maintenance Lead Man, and HVAC Certified Technician

JOB GOAL

To help maintain the physical school plants in a condition of operating excellence so that full educational use of the facilities may be made at all times

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

All general maintenance, including but not limited to the following:

• Plumbing repairs and replacement
• Electrical repairs and replacement
• HVAC repairs and replacement
• Carpentry repairs
• Construction projects
• Other duties as assigned by the Transportation and Maintenance Director, Maintenance Lead Man, and HVAC Certified Technician

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT

Terms of employment shall be consistent with the law relating to employment by a school system in the State of Alabama. Twelve-month year, with a salary scale established by the Board for this position.

EVALUATION

The performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with the provisions of the Board’s Policy on Evaluation of Support Personnel.
