Job summary

Smurfit Westrock is seeking a Maintenance Helper to inspect, test, and repair electrical and mechanical systems in a corrugated packaging plant. You will support a fast-paced manufacturing environment and troubleshoot conveyors, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.

Qualified candidates have a high school diploma or GED, 2+ years electro-mechanic experience, and the ability to read blueprints. PLC knowledge and electrical voltages up to 480V are a plus.

Qualifications

• Able to read blueprints and schematics.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, test, repair, and maintain electrical and mechanical systems in a corrugated packaging facility.
• Support operation of a fast-paced packaging manufacturing facility.
• Troubleshoot and repair conveyors, hydraulics, pneumatics; reduce downtime with preventive maintenance.
• Design and install improvements to equipment for quality, safety, or increased production.
• Adjust and calibrate equipment as needed.

TITLE : Maintenance Helper

DEPARTMENT : Maintenance

Responsibilities:

• Inspects, tests, repairs, and maintains the electrical and mechanical systems in a safe manner within a corrugated packaging manufacturing facility.
• Support the operation of a fast-paced packaging manufacturing facility.
• Troubleshoot and repair manufacturing equipment including conveyors, hydraulic and pneumatic systems
• Reduce production down time by performing scheduled PM maintenance.
• Design and install improvements to equipment for quality and safety or increased production.
• Adjust and calibrate equipment

What you need to succeed:

• High School diploma or GED required.
• At least 2 years of electro-mechanic experience working in a manufacturing environment.
• Proficient in reading blueprints and schematics
• Familiar with PLC Hardware and Software from Series 3 through Series 7; NEC and NFPA70E
• Familiar with test equipment i.e. meters, micrometers, calipers, etc.
• Familiar with process flows, machinery, and mechanical equipment such as pumps, engines, motors, pneumatic systems and valves, hydraulic systems and valves, conveyor systems, compressors, large rotating equipment, boilers and other continuous process equipment.
• Read and understand drawings, troubleshoot and repair hydraulic and pneumatic mechanical systems including valves, solenoids, and manual and automatic controls including but not limited to press and finishing glue systems, banding line and corrugator hydraulics.
• Inspect, test, troubleshoot, repair, install, and maintain electrical equipment of varying voltages including but not limited to 0V through 480v.
• Inspect, test, troubleshoot, repair, install, and maintain electrical equipment including but not limited to: motors (all types), starters, breakers, transformers, isolation switches, relays, fuses, resistors, air conditioning, valves, AC Drives, DC
• The starting range is $25.32/hr, depending on your role, level, and location. The benefits for this role may include short-term bonus incentive, health, dental and vision insurance, flexible spending accounts or health savings accounts, retirement savings plans, life and disability insurance programs, and paid sick leave as required by applicable state/local law, 5 days of paid vacation will be granted after 1 year of service, and 11 days of paid holidays, subject to annual change.
