Job summary

State of Missouri is seeking an entry level Maintenance and Grounds Technician to support a range of building, equipment, and grounds maintenance tasks across state facilities.

Roles involve light trades work (electrical, plumbing, carpentry), outdoor duties, and occasional after-hours coverage. The position offers long-term growth within the OA-FMDC Operations Team and emphasizes safety and reliable service to the public.

Qualifications

• Prior experience and general knowledge of light trades work; general maintenance and repairs.
• Ability to understand and carry out time-sensitive instructions independently or as part of a team.
• Ability to work outdoors under varying weather conditions.
• Ability to operate gas- and hand-powered lawn maintenance tools and equipment such as mowing machinery, tractors, and other motorized equipment.
• Excellent attendance, work ethic, attention to detail, and critical thinking skills.
• Ability to properly lift and carry 50 lbs.
• Safety-first mindset with considerable knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions (OSHA 10 and/or 30 preferred, but FMDC can provide if needed).
• Possess and maintain a valid driver license from Missouri or from an adjacent state if you reside outside of Missouri

Responsibilities

• Prioritize excellent customer service for a wide and diverse network of stakeholders.
• Perform manual labor in the handling and storage of building materials and supplies.
• Perform heavy lifting and operate machinery per project needs.
• Complete a variety of semi-skilled work in alteration, maintenance, and repair of state buildings and vehicles.
• Maintain grounds including horticultural care, debris removal, snow removal, and salt application.
• Assist in cleaning parking lots and patching/painting asphalt.
• Perform light electrical, plumbing, drywall repairs, and painting.
• Perform preventative and corrective maintenance on facilities and equipment.
• Travel to other facilities to provide coverage and assistance when needed.
