Job summary

State of Alaska is recruiting a Maintenance Generalist - Sub Journey 1 for the Alaska Army National Guard (AKANG) Facilities Maintenance Office. The role covers statewide preventive maintenance, repair and replacement of building and mechanical components at DMVA and ARNG facilities.

Seasonal grounds work and groundskeeping equipment maintenance are included. Position is within the LTC bargaining unit at wage grade 58, located on Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson.

What You Will Be Doing:

As the newest team member for ARNG, you will provide statewide preventive maintenance, repair, and replacement of building and mechanical components for DMVA and ARNG facilities. You will perform seasonal grounds maintenance, including snow and ice removal in winter and lawn care, landscaping, weed control, and general cleanup in summer. You will play a key role in helping our crew to maintain and perform minor repairs on groundskeeping equipment, including oil and filter changes, spark plug replacement, blade sharpening, and lubrication.

The successful applicants must pass a federal background check in order to qualify for military base access, which is required with this position's work location on base. The background check may include fingerprinting. Maintenance Generalist Sub Journey 1

Job Specific Requirements:

May travel to remote areas of the state to support the Department's missions. DMVA is housed on the Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson military base. The incumbent must be able to pass security check to access this federal military installation. Adherence to special security guidelines, protocol, etc. for Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson needs to be followed. Position may be exposed to pathogens (Hepatitis, Methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA)) for which vaccines and personal protective equipment are the most appropriate form of protection.
