Job summary

Tyson Foods is seeking a Maintenance Generalist in Forest, MS to troubleshoot, repair, and maintain production equipment and facility systems. This role supports uptime, food safety, and equipment reliability while following Tyson policies.

Responsibilities include preventive and corrective maintenance, reading manuals and schematics, documenting work, and assisting with installations and upgrades. Candidates must have 1 year of maintenance experience and be able to perform physical tasks; shift

Qualifications

  • 1 year maintenance experience within the last 2 years.
  • Ability to read equipment manuals, drawings, and schematics.
  • Willingness to perform physical tasks and operate maintenance tools.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and promote Tyson's safety culture.
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on plant equipment and machinery.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and plumbing systems.
  • Repair and replace motors, pumps, bearings, shafts, conveyors, augers, couplings, steam and water lines.
  • Perform welding, cutting, fabrication, and minor electrical repairs.
  • Read and interpret equipment manuals, drawings, and schematics.
  • Monitor equipment performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Assist with equipment installations, upgrades, and modifications.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and complete required documentation.
  • Operate hand tools, power tools, lifts, forklifts, and other maintenance equipment as trained and certified.
  • Support emergency repairs and respond to equipment breakdowns to minimize production interruptions.

Job Overview

Job Details: The Maintenance Generalist is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining production equipment, machinery, and facility systems to support efficient plant operations. This position plays a critical role in minimizing downtime, ensuring food safety, maintaining equipment reliability, and promoting a safe work environment while adhering to Tyson Foods policies and procedures. Responsibilities are based on existing Tyson maintenance job descriptions and Forest facility references.

Essential Functions
  • Maintain and promote Tyson's safety culture.
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on plant equipment and machinery.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and plumbing systems.

Requirements
  • *Must have 1 year maintenance experience within the immediate past 2 years.
  • Rehiring Criteria: Applicant must not have worked for Tyson more than a total of 3 times prior. Applicants must also have completed at least 180 days since their last employment with Tyson.
