Tyson Foods in Columbus Junction, Iowa, is seeking a Maintenance Generalist to troubleshoot, maintain, and repair equipment across a pork processing facility. The role requires working 2nd and 3rd shifts and lifting up to 60 pounds, with emphasis on safety and adherence to Tyson policies.

You will perform mechanical and electrical troubleshooting, read manuals, document work, and participate in preventive maintenance across conveyors, hydraulics, pneumatics, and related systems.

Qualifications

• Must have 1 year of experience and/or education in at least two general maintenance areas such as mechanical or electrical troubleshooting, hydraulics or PLC troubleshooting, welding/fabrication, or related fields.
• Ability to read and understand manuals, document work on scheduling sheets, and complete computer-based training modules.
• Must be able to lift up to 60+ pounds, work in confined spaces, and climb ladders/scaffolds; willing to work any department, weekends, holidays and overtime.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot, maintain and repair equipment across departments in a pork processing facility.
• Perform preventative maintenance on production equipment like conveyors, trolley systems, rendering machinery and hydraulics.
• Weld/fabricate as needed and perform basic electrical work and pneumatic/hydraulic system tasks.
• Read and follow manuals, document tasks, and participate in ongoing training.
• Commit to safety and Tyson policies, with ability to work in cold, damp, or hot environments.

These positions work in all departments of this pork processing facility, performing preventative maintenance repairing equipment used in production such as conveyor lines, trolley systems, Rendering machinery, and hydraulic systems. Other duties may include welding, basic electrical work, and working with pneumatic and hydraulic systems. Standing, walking, bending, stretching, climbing, pushing, pulling, and reaching are required in all areas. These positions work in a cold, damp or hot and humid environment.
