Job summary

Laitram, L.L.C. is seeking a Maintenance Generalist to join the Corporate Facilities Management and Engineering Team at our Harahan office.

You will maintain offices, shops, grounds, and manufacturing areas in a safe, clean condition while handling demand and corrective work orders for campus operations. This role reports to the Corporate Facilities Supervisor and supports moves, reconfigurations, and refresh projects across the campus, working with various tools, equipment, and safety

Qualifications

• 4+ years of relevant mechanical or facilities maintenance experience.
• Must have strong problem-solving and communication skills.
• Ability to learn new tools, systems, and procedures.
• Ability to collaborate effectively and support continuous-improvement initiatives.
• May be required to use various hand and power tools and operate a forklift or aerial lift.
• Must be physically capable of performing maintenance tasks including lifting up to 73 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Assemble, install, and relocate office furniture, workstations, shelving, and storage systems.
• Install warehouse racking per specifications and safety requirements.
• Perform minor facility repairs such as ceiling tile replacement and touch-up work.
• Hang and mount signs, whiteboards, bulletin boards, artwork, TVs, and other fixtures.
• Support office moves, relocations, and workspace reconfigurations.
• Assist in common area refresh projects including furniture replacement and fixture updates.
• Conduct routine facility inspections and identify repair opportunities.
• Follow drawings, schematics, blueprints, or verbal instructions to operate tools and machines.
• Source and order parts and services as needed.
• Operate a company vehicle to travel to job sites and collect project parts/materials.
• Document completed work and update CMMS work orders.
• May be on-call for telephone assistance or emergency response.

This individual will be a dedicated resource to maintain offices, shops, grounds, manufacturing and assigned areas in a safe, clean condition, and assist with the demand and corrective work orders required for normal campus operations. This position will report to the Corporate Facilities Supervisor.

Responsibilities

• Support office moves, departmental relocations, and workspace reconfigurations.
• Assist in common area refresh projects, including furniture replacement, fixture updates, and aesthetic improvements.
• Perform routine facility inspections and identify repair or improvement opportunities.
• Work from drawings, schematics, blueprints, job layouts or verbal instructions and operates a variety of tools and machines incidental to operations.
• Source and order parts and services as needed.
• Operate a company vehicle to travel to job sites and pick up project parts and materials
• Comply with all company policies, standards and safety procedures.
• Document completed work and update work orders within the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS)
• Perform any other miscellaneous duties as requested.
• May be required to be on call to provide telephone assistance as well as emergency response to the facility.

Requirements

• 4+ years of relevant mechanical or facilities maintenance experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
• Effective problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills
• Demonstrated willingness and ability to learn new tools, systems, and procedures
• Ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and support continuous-improvement initiatives
• May be required to use a variety of hand and power tools and operate a forklift and/or aerial lift.
• Must be able to communicate effectively to deliver excellent customer satisfaction.
• Must be physically able to perform maintenance tasks to the highest caliber, which includes ability to: climb ladders, lift objects, extend arms to reach overhead, etc.
• May be required to work overtime and/or weekends to complete a project.
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
• Must be able to perform the essential job requirements identified in the Functional Job Description for this position, including the ability to lift 73 pounds.

Desired Qualifications

• Current certification to operate a forklift, boom lift, and/or scissor lift
• Competence and experience with Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word and Excel)
• Experience with electrical work and/or plumbing work.
