Job summary

Agropur Cooperative is seeking a Maintenance General for our Little Chute, WI plant. The role keeps the plant running and in compliance by using safe repair and upkeep methods, troubleshooting electrical and mechanical systems and working with production to minimize downtime while maintaining high quality.

Requirements include a High School Diploma or equivalent, with at least 1 year of related maintenance experience and mechanical aptitude.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot equipment for electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Install, update and repair equipment.
  • Work closely with production to minimize downtime while maintaining high quality.
  • Repair or replace valves and pumps (seals, steam, O rings, seats, bearings, etc.).
  • Perform basic electrical wiring (switches, outlets, starter, motor leads, etc.).
  • Perform basic pipe fitting as directed.
  • Handle all equipment and chemicals safely.
  • Maintain knowledge of process areas and GMP adherence.
  • Support safety policies and programs.

Rate of Pay: $30.33/hour

NIGHT SHIFT: 6pm-6am, 2-2-3 Schedule Double time on Sundays

What you’ll be responsible for each day

The Maintenance General position is responsible for keeping the plant running and in compliance with all rules/regulations by using safe methods of equipment repair and upkeep.

  • Troubleshoot equipment for electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Install, update and repair equipment.
  • Work closely with production to minimize downtime while maintaining high quality.
  • Repair or replace valves and pumps (seals, steams, O rings, seats, bearings, etc.) as needed.

  • Handle all equipment and chemicals safely.
Other Duties and Responsibilities
  • Maintain a good working knowledge of all process areas in the plant.
  • Understand and adhere to Good Manufacturing Practices.
Safety Protocol
  • Stop any observed unsafe acts and obey facility safety rules and procedures.
  • Correct or report any observed safety hazards.
  • Support safety policies and programs.
Education Required

High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.

Experience Required

Minimum one (1) year of related maintenance experience preferred. Mechanical aptitude required.

Skills Required
  • Communicate well both verbal and in writing with managers and colleagues.
  • Demonstrate attention to detail and accuracy in work.
  • Ability to apply logic and methods to solve difficult problems with effective solutions.

Where you’ll be working

Our Little Chute, WI, plant is home to about 140 employees. This facility is a top manufacturer of IQF sticks that are supplied to the appetizer industry. Next to the plant is our well-known Simon’s Specialty Cheese store, which has about 20 employees. Simon’s is a Wisconsin-themed store, with everything from meats and cheese to clothing and craft spirits. Agropur's US operations produce 1 billion pounds of quality, award-winning cheese each year.
