Position Overview

The Port of Oakland is seeking a Port Maintenance Foreman to oversee maintenance and construction activities across various port facilities. This role involves supervising crews, managing materials, ensuring safety standards, and coordinating maintenance operations to support port activities.

Key Responsibilities

1. Supervise maintenance and construction crews in the repair and upkeep of port facilities including buildings, wharves, sewer and drainage systems, paved areas, and landscaping.
2. Manage materials, supplies, and equipment, including ordering and inventory control.
3. Estimate costs, prepare budgets, and ensure safety compliance.
4. Inspect structures and work sites, interpret blueprints and specifications.
5. Utilize computerized maintenance management systems for scheduling and reporting.
6. Perform related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

High School diploma required. At least two years of public works construction and maintenance experience, plus one year in a lead role. Courses in supervision are desirable.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Knowledge of construction practices, safety protocols, and relevant codes.
• Ability to read blueprints, estimate costs, and supervise teams effectively.
• Proficient in basic computer applications including MS Word and Excel.
• Valid California Class C driver license required.
• Must pass TSA background checks and possibly U.S. Customs security requirements.
• Availability for on-call emergency duties.
