Job summary

Hawaiian Building Maintenance is seeking a qualified Maintenance Technician Floater to perform preventative maintenance and repairs across multiple locations in Hawaii. You will handle plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, painting, and grounds work, while ensuring safety compliance and high quality service.

The role requires a valid driver's license, ability to travel between sites, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.

• HBM prescreen check required.
• General preventative maintenance experience (plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, masonry, painting, drywall).
• Troubleshooting abilities and mechanical aptitude.
• Follow verbal and written instructions in English.
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Good organizational skills and willingness to learn.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance inspections and repairs (painting, drywall, plumbing, electrical, mechanical, HVAC) and grounds maintenance.
• Provide excellent customer service to property managers, vendors, and customers.
• Drive to different locations to provide coverage.
• Lift/push/pull 50–75 lbs., walk, bend, stretch during shift.
• Ensure equipment and systems are functioning and fixed as needed.
• Create and maintain work orders and purchase orders.
• Perform additional maintenance duties as required by supervisor or property management.

Hawaiian Building Maintenance has been providing quality service since 1957. We are one of the largest facility service providers in the State of Hawaii. Our company is seeking a qualified individual with industry experience. Reporting directly to the Chief Building Engineer or the Account Manager-Engineering, the Maintenance Technician Floater will be tasked with general maintenance and repairs of facility equipment and property structures, as well as grounds maintenance while floating to different locations. Candidates must have a valid driver's license, reliable vehicle, previous hands-on maintenance experience, proficiency in light plumbing, electrical work, H.V.A.C., carpentry, masonry, painting and drywall, all tasks must be performed in accordance with EPA, Hazmat, and OSHA safety regulations.

• Position: Maintenance Technician Floater
• Schedule: Varies - Monday to Friday between the hours of 8:00 AM - 8:30 PM (subjective to emergencies: after hours, weekends and holidays)
• Hourly pay rate: $25.00 - $26.00

• Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform preventative maintenance inspections and repairs: painting, drywall, plumbing, electrical, mechanical and heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) and grounds maintenance
  • Excellent customer service skills to interact with property managers, vendors, customers, etc.
  • Drive to different locations to provide coverage
  • Able to lift, push, pull a minimum of 50lbs. up to 75lbs., walk, bend, stretch during shift
  • Ensure mechanical equipment and systems are working in order and fixed as necessary.

• Skills/Qualifications:
  • Must pass HBM prescreen check.

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule.
  • Must have basic hand tools.
  • General preventative maintenance experience is required (Basic commercial plumbing, light electrical, H.V.A.C., carpentry, masonry, painting, and drywall).
  • Troubleshooting abilities.
  • Mechanical aptitude.
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions in English.
  • Must have good public relations skills and communication.
  • Customer service oriented.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Applicants must perform basic manual labor, clean common areas, frequently lift, press, push, pull, carry a minimum of 50lbs. (up to 75lbs.), be able to reach overhead, grasp objects, bend, kneel, crawl, squat, climb, stretch, walk, walk up and down a stairway, climb up/down a ladder and stand throughout their shift.
