Job summary

Chick-fil-A Ironwood is seeking a Maintenance & Facilities Team Member to uphold a spotless, safe restaurant environment. You will lead cleaning efforts, perform preventative maintenance, and coordinate basic repairs with vendors to minimize downtime.

The role requires working evenings or nights, lifting up to 50 lbs, and collaborating with a two-to-three-person team. Prior cleaning or maintenance experience is preferred, and adherence to Chick-fil-A standards is essential.

Responsibilities

  • Deep Cleaning: nightly cleaning of all floor surfaces and sanitizing restrooms and back-of-house areas.
  • Preventative Maintenance: inspect and maintain restaurant equipment and facility systems; document maintenance activities.
  • Equipment Repair: diagnose and perform basic repairs and replace wear items to maximize equipment life.
  • Facility Care & Second Mile Support: address cleanliness concerns, perform light maintenance, and complete checklists.
  • Building Systems Oversight: maintain knowledge of kitchen equipment, HVAC, electrical, plumbing, refrigeration, and lighting.
  • Vendor Management: coordinate repairs with outside vendors and monitor repair quality.
  • Facility Improvement: suggest improvements to increase reliability and reduce costs.
  • Support leadership with annual facility planning and preventative maintenance budgeting.

Job description

The Maintenance & Facilities Team Members are responsible for maintaining an exceptionally clean, safe, and fully operational restaurant environment, both inside and outside the building. This role serves as the primary steward of the restaurant's facility and equipment, ensuring the restaurant is operating at peak performance every day.

This position has three primary areas of responsibility:

  • Deep Cleaning – Maintaining Chick-fil-A Ironwood's high standards through nightly deep cleaning and preventative sanitation.
  • Preventative Maintenance & Equipment Reliability – Inspecting, maintaining, troubleshooting, and performing basic repairs on restaurant equipment and building systems whenever possible.
  • Facilities Coordination – Planning, documenting, and coordinating repairs with outside vendors when specialized service is required while ensuring work is completed correctly and efficiently.

The Maintenance & Facilities Team Members play a critical behind-the-scenes leadership role by protecting the restaurant's physical assets, ensuring a clean restaurant every day, minimizing equipment downtime, maintaining preventive maintenance schedules, and ensuring the facility is always prepared to deliver Second Mile Service to both guests and team members.

Restaurant and Equipment Maintenance & Facility Management
Deep Cleaning & Floor Care (Primary Focus)
  • Perform nightly deep cleaning of all floor surfaces including dining room, kitchen, restrooms, hallways, storage areas, and walk-in coolers.
  • Operate floor scrubbers, mops, degreasers, and buffers to remove buildup and maintain slip-resistant surfaces.
  • Detail floors on a scheduled basis to preserve appearance and safety.
  • Ensure floor drains, baseboards, corners, and hard-to-reach areas are thoroughly cleaned.
  • Take pride in leaving the restaurant noticeably cleaner than you found it.
Restaurant Deep Cleaning & Sanitation
  • Clean and sanitize restrooms, and back-of-house spaces to Chick-fil-A standards.
  • Deep clean kitchen equipment exteriors, walls, doors, shelving, and storage areas.
  • Remove trash and recycling and ensure proper disposal at the end of each shift.
  • Follow all food safety, sanitation, and chemical handling procedures.
Preventative Maintenance
  • Develop and follow preventative maintenance schedules for all restaurant equipment and facility systems.
  • Perform routine inspections to identify wear, safety concerns, or potential equipment failures before they become operational issues.
  • Maintain maintenance logs, repair histories, and equipment documentation.
Equipment Repair
  • Diagnose and perform basic repairs on restaurant equipment whenever practical.
  • Replace common wear items and perform preventative servicing to maximize equipment life.
  • Troubleshoot equipment issues to determine whether repairs can be completed internally or require outside service.
  • Ensure equipment is returned to operational status quickly while maintaining Chick-fil-A standards.
Facility Care & Second Mile Support
  • Notice and address cleanliness or facility concerns that others may overlook.
  • Perform light maintenance tasks such as replacing light bulbs, tightening fixtures, and reporting repair needs.
  • Complete cleaning and maintenance checklists accurately and consistently.
  • Support Winning Hearts Every Day by caring for the restaurant as if it were your own.
Building Systems Oversight

Maintain a working knowledge of:

  • Commercial kitchen equipment
  • HVAC systems
  • Basic electrical systems
  • Plumbing systems
  • Refrigeration systems
  • Small kitchen equipment
  • Lighting systems
  • Doors, hardware, and facility fixtures

While certifications are not required, the successful candidate should possess enough working knowledge to effectively diagnose problems, communicate with vendors, oversee repairs, and verify work quality.

Vendor Management
  • Coordinate repair work with approved outside vendors when specialized service is required.
  • Schedule repairs to minimize restaurant disruption.
  • Obtain estimates and communicate repair needs with restaurant leadership.
  • Monitor vendor performance and verify repairs are completed correctly.
  • Follow up to ensure recurring issues are permanently resolved.
Facility Improvement
  • Recommend improvements that increase equipment reliability, reduce repair costs, improve safety, and extend the life of restaurant assets.
  • Assist leadership with annual facility planning and preventative maintenance budgeting.
Qualifications & Expectations
Required
  • Availability to work evening or night shifts.Consistent work schedule and must be able to work 6 nights a week, typically between 9 PM and 3 AM
  • Strong work ethic with attention to detail and consistency
  • Ability to perform physical work including lifting up to 50 lbs, bending, kneeling, and standing for extended periods.
  • Commitment to Chick-fil-A Ironwood values, cleanliness standards, and teamwork.
  • Will work with a team of two to three individuals.
Preferred
  • Experience with commercial cleaning, janitorial work, or custodial services.
  • Familiarity with floor care equipment such as scrubbers and buffers.
  • Experience in commercial building maintenance, facilities cleaning, facilities management, or restaurant maintenance.
  • Working knowledge of HVAC, electrical, plumbing, refrigeration, and commercial kitchen equipment.
  • Experience troubleshooting mechanical or electrical equipment.
  • Ability to safely use hand and power tools.
  • Experience coordinating repairs with outside contractors and service providers.
  • EPA, HVAC, electrical, refrigeration, or related maintenance certifications are not required, but will be considered a strong asset.
  • Experience with preventative maintenance programs and equipment documentation.
  • Familiarity with floor care equipment such as commercial scrubbers and buffers.
