Job summary

CommuniCare Health Center Careers is seeking a facilities maintenance worker to keep our San Antonio center clean, safe, and well functioning. You will perform custodial duties, light repairs, grounds keeping, and coordinate supplies, while supporting the Facility Manager.

This role requires physical stamina, the ability to operate a buffing machine, and a valid driver’s license. We offer challenging work, steady hours, and the chance to contribute to a vital community healthcare site.

Responsibilities

• Maintain facilities including grounds, janitorial duties, and security.
• Manage inventory and initiate supply orders for indoor/outdoor maintenance.
• Perform light maintenance (bulbs, painting, floor buffing, furniture movement).
• Serve as an on-site repair person for maintenance/repairs.
• Custodial duties: clean/sanitize, replenish restroom supplies.
• Daily safety and hazards inspection; monitor equipment and climate systems.
• Assist in responding to fire/burglar alarms and emergencies.
• Provide excellent internal/external customer service.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Job description

Responsible for the facilities maintenance, performs a full range of custodial duties related to the care, maintenance, and cleanliness of assigned buildings. Ensure safety of Center’s facilities as required.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Provides overall maintenance of the Center’s facilities to include grounds keeping, janitorial duties and security. Maintains inventory and initiates supply orders for all required supplies for indoor and outdoor maintenance of the facilities. Conducts various light maintenance work such as light bulb replacement, painting, floor buffing, moving furniture and fixtures, event setup and tear down. Serves as overall "repair person" to perform maintenance and/or repairs jobs (small and large) at the Center’s facilities.
• Performs custodial duties to include cleaning and sanitizing facilities and fixtures as per checklist provided by department manager; replenishes supplies in restrooms, clinic common areas, break rooms. Identifies the need for building maintenance and repairs in assigned buildings and may serve as backup driver as needed.
• Performs daily inspection of the building for safety, cleanliness, hazards, etc., to include doors, floors and furnishings. Ensures adequate maintenance of equipment (buffers, vacuum cleaners, etc.). If applicable, provides routine vehicle maintenance (oil change, inspections, detailing). Monitors the preventive maintenance contracts to ensure that the air conditioning/heating units, fire alarms, elevators, sprinkler, and security alarm systems are well maintained. Monitors the Center’s landscape and ensures a good appearance at all times.
• Assists Facility Manager/Supervisor in responding to fire and burglar alarm systems. Responds to Center’s emergency response systems when assigned.
• Provides excellent internal/external customer service.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Physical and Mental Activities and Requirements

• Physical: Walking, standing for extended periods of time. Climbing stairs/ladders; crouching or crawling during custodial maintenance activities. May have to lift, pull, push heavy equipment, and other items weighing up to approximately 50 lbs.
