Qualifications

• Knowledge of operating mowing equipment, fork trucks, skid loaders, backhoes, tractors, jet dryers, and lifts; welding/carpentry skills.

Responsibilities

• Maintain/refurbish facility assets to keep operations in top condition.
• Inspect plumbing, HVAC, interiors, exteriors, and parking areas; repair as needed.
• Perform routine maintenance to extend asset life and reliability.
• Provide emergency assistance for inoperative vehicles/equipment.
• Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs.
• Maintain knowledge of owned/rented equipment and tools.
• Assist with event operations for varying event sizes.
• Supervise trade personnel (plumbers, electricians, carpenters) as needed.
• Adhere to safety practices and identify hazards to ensure a safe workplace.
• Assist with general facility maintenance and construction projects.
• Process work orders and respond to maintenance requests.
• Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Chicagoland Speedway

Chicagoland Speedway is a 1.5-mile oval located in Joliet, Illinois, approximately 30 miles south of downtown Chicago on Old Historic Route 66. On July 3-5, 2026, NASCAR will make its much-anticipated return to Chicagoland Speedway for three days of racing action.

Position Purpose

Provide maintenance support and knowledge of the facility operations in the motorsports industries, while working in the high-energy and fast-paced environment at Chicagoland Speedway and Route 66 Raceway.

Job Responsibilities

• Maintain/Enhance the aesthetics of the facility i.e., refurbish assets, repaint, rebuild etc. in an effort to keep the facility in top operational condition.
• Inspect plumbing, HVAC, interior and exterior of buildings, parking lots and all other areas and repair as needed.
• Perform proper maintenance on all department assets to ensure efficiency and extend life.
• Provide emergency assistance for inoperative vehicle/equipment when needed.
• Develop and implement preventative maintenance/routine service inspection programs within.
• Operational and maintenance knowledge of owned/rented equipment and tools.
• Assist with event operations for large to small events held at the facility and work events as needed.
• Work with and manage any trade personnel that may be hired to work such as plumbers, electricians and/or carpenters to complete these projects.
• Follow safety practices and be aware of potential safety hazards/occupational hazards and implement systems and safeguards to insure a hazard free workplace.
• Assist the department in general facility maintenance and construction projects.
• Fulfill numerous work order/requests for maintaining the facility’s needs.
• Communicate effectively, both orally and written.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and two to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
• Utilize computer skills as or if needed i.e., Microsoft office (outlook, word and excel).
• Must have the knowledge and ability to operate mowing equipment, fork trucks, skid loaders, backhoe, tractors, jet dryers, and lifts. Also, must possess skills to weld, construct / carpentry work, and wrench. Must demonstrate attention to detail.

Physical Requirements And Work Environment

Work involves moderate to heavy work in all types of weather. There is frequent need to stand, stoop, walk, bend, lift heavy objects up to 50 pounds and perform other similar actions during the course of the workday. Drive motorized vehicles to travel to different locations both on and off the facility. Occasional evening and weekend hours are required as needed.

Compensation

$15.00 - 18.00 per hour
