Job Description: Maintenance Equipment Operator II

The Department of Conservation and Recreation (DCR) seeks applicants for the position of Maintenance Equipment Operator II at the Neponset Operations Yard, Boston. Incumbents will operate heavy machinery such as street sweepers, backhoes, front-end loaders, bulldozers, and other equipment used in construction, maintenance, and repair of roadways, parks, beaches, and related infrastructure.

Responsibilities include:

1. Operating heavy equipment for construction, maintenance, and repair activities.
2. Performing routine vehicle and equipment maintenance.
3. Maintaining records and preparing reports on vehicle use and expenses.
4. Loading and unloading materials and supplies.
5. Working independently and supervising staff as needed.

Requirements:

• Possession of a valid Massachusetts Class 2 Motor Vehicle Operator’s License.
• Possession of a valid Massachusetts 2A Hoisting license (Mass. Class C Equipment Operators License).
• Possession of a valid CDL license.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Knowledge of heavy equipment operation, maintenance, and safety procedures.
• Ability to operate snow removal equipment.
• Manual repair skills and ability to follow instructions.
