Job summary

Courtyard Downtown-EPC is seeking a skilled Engineer II to maintain hotel facilities, equipment, and systems ensuring a safe, comfortable stay for guests and associates. The ideal candidate combines strong technical knowledge with problem-solving skills and a commitment to quality and safety.

The role requires hands-on maintenance, timely repairs, and adherence to Marriott standards. Applicants should be able to work weekends and emergencies as needed, in a full-time on-site capacity.

Qualifications

  • Previous hotel engineering or commercial maintenance experience required.
  • Experience with HVAC, electrical, plumbing, refrigeration, commercial kitchen equipment, and general building construction required.
  • Vocational training, associate degree, certification, and/or apprenticeship in one or more technical areas preferred.
  • State certification or licensing where required.
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints, schematics, and technical documentation.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
  • High work ethic, self-initiative, and ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, holidays, and respond to emergencies as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance throughout the hotel property.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot HVAC, electrical, plumbing, refrigeration, and mechanical systems.
  • Operate, inspect, and repair building systems and equipment to ensure proper functionality.
  • Maintain and troubleshoot commercial kitchen equipment and related systems.
  • Perform general repairs, construction, and maintenance projects as needed.
  • Understand and efficiently maintain advanced electrical, plumbing, refrigeration, and boiler systems.
  • Diagnose equipment issues and complete repairs in a timely manner.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematic drawings, and technical parts breakdowns.
  • Conduct routine inspections to identify safety hazards, maintenance needs, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Respond promptly to guest room maintenance requests and emergencies.
  • Maintain accurate records of work performed, repairs completed, and preventive maintenance activities.
  • Follow all Marriott brand standards, safety procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Assist with projects and other duties as assigned by management.
