Job summary

Matern Staffing is hiring a Maintenance Engineer for an apparel distribution center in Ashland, VA, to ensure optimal operation of facility systems. You will maintain conveyors and control systems, troubleshoot electrical/mechanical components, and lead maintenance staff for safe, efficient workflows.

You will also collaborate with IT, vendors, and staff while developing training programs and overseeing preventive maintenance.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in an Engineering discipline or equivalent experience with industrial equipment.
1–3 years of relevant equipment maintenance experience, especially conveyors.
Ability to adapt to a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
Leadership and training experience with team collaboration and communication.
Ability to travel to support additional sites and train staff.

Responsibilities

Maintain and repair facility systems, including conveyors and control systems (motors, belts, scanners, VFDs).
Troubleshoot and repair mechanical and electrical components like photo eyes, solenoids, air valves, and motors.
Supervise and train Facilities staff in the distribution center for safe, efficient workflows.
Collaborate with IT, vendor support, and staff to diagnose and resolve operational issues.
Develop and execute maintenance training programs for staff.
Manage preventive maintenance programs and spare parts inventory.
Ensure safety, regulatory compliance, and maintain accurate hazmat records.
Respond to operational inquiries and resolve facility-related issues quickly.
