Job summary

La Quinta by Wyndham Vancouver, WA is seeking a detail-oriented Maintenance Engineer to join our team. You will perform daily repairs, preventive maintenance, and maintain the interior and exterior of our hotel, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical systems, and FF&E.

The ideal candidate has a background in basic construction or building upkeep and a commitment to guest satisfaction. Hospitality experience is preferred, and you must read, write, and speak English.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED; or one to two years of related experience and/or training.
• Hospitality experience preferred.
• Knowledgeable of basic repair and maintenance skills including plumbing, carpentry, grouting, painting, caulking, troubleshooting, and blueprint reading.
• Ability to read, write and speak English.
• Basic Math skills.
• Basic computer skills.
• Must be highly motivated and able to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for maintaining the entire hotel facility including physical building structure, grounds, all mechanical, electrical, HVAC systems and related equipment
• Preventative maintenance and repair of the hotel's mechanical/electrical systems and equipment, and for the general maintenance and upkeep of the facility, FF&E, grounds, swimming pool, etc.
• Monitor life safety systems and utilities and administer the department on compliance with all corporate/franchise standards and local, state and national codes and regulations to protect assets, guests and associates.
• Responds promptly and follows through on guest requests in a friendly and effective manner
• Conducts preventative maintenance on all guest room/suite furniture, fixtures, and equipment
• Inspects plumbing regularly
• Complies with hotel safety prevention rules and techniques, including fire safety
• Other duties as assigned
