Century Aluminum is seeking a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to enhance reliability and safety of mechanical systems. The role blends hands-on plant work with data analysis, drawings, and maintenance systems.

Responsibilities include troubleshooting rotating equipment, developing maintenance programs, and leading RCFA efforts. You will collaborate with operations and engineering to improve uptime and safety across the facility.

Formación

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 3+ years in an industrial maintenance or reliability-focused role.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical systems including rotating equipment and power transmission.
• Experience troubleshooting hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
• Ability to read mechanical drawings, P&IDs, and OEM documentation.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Effective cross-functional communication.

Responsabilidades

• Provide technical support for mechanical maintenance activities including troubleshooting rotating equipment, pumps, gearboxes, conveyors, hydraulics, and pneumatics.
• Develop, optimize, and maintain preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
• Lead RCFA efforts and analyze equipment failures.
• Support planning and execution of major repairs, overhauls, and shutdowns.
• Review equipment performance and propose design or process improvements.
• Collaborate with operations, maintenance, and engineering to improve availability and safety.
• Assist with maintenance documentation including procedures, BOMs, and criticality rankings.
• Support spare parts strategy, vendor coordination, and technical evaluations.
• Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
• Manage capital projects and major maintenance projects as required.

We are seeking a Mechanical Maintenance Engineer to support and improve the reliability, safety, and performance of mechanical systems across our facility. This role bridges engineering and maintenance, focusing on equipment reliability, preventive maintenance strategies, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate is equally comfortable on the plant floor and working with data, drawings, and maintenance systems.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide technical support for mechanical maintenance activities, including troubleshooting of rotating equipment, pumps, gearboxes, conveyors, hydraulics, and pneumatic systems
• Develop, optimize, and maintain preventive and predictive maintenance programs
• Analyze equipment failures and lead root cause failure analysis (RCFA) efforts
• Support planning and execution of major repairs, overhauls, and shutdown activities
• Review equipment performance and recommend design or process improvements to improve reliability and reduce downtime
• Collaborate with operations, maintenance, and engineering teams to improve equipment availability and safety
• Support maintenance documentation including procedures, job plans, bills of material, and equipment criticality rankings
• Assist with spare parts strategy, vendor coordination, and technical evaluations
• Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements
• Manage capital projects, major maintenance projects, equipment installations, and commissioning as required

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
• 3+ years of experience in an industrial maintenance or reliability-focused role
• Strong working knowledge of mechanical systems, including rotating equipment and industrial power transmission
• Experience troubleshooting hydraulic and pneumatic systems
• Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, P&IDs, and OEM documentation
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
• Effective communication skills and ability to work cross-functionally

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in manufacturing, heavy industry, mining, metals, chemical, or energy environments
• Familiarity with CMMS systems (SAP PM)
• Reliability engineering tools experience (RCFA, FMEA, vibration analysis, oil analysis, etc.)
• Experience supporting continuous improvement or TPM initiatives
