Job summary

gap technical are representing a market-leading business seeking an experienced Multi Skilled Maintenance Engineer to provide maintenance support at their Kent site. The role commands a salary of £55,000-£58,000 with overtime available and a 4 on 4 off days & nights pattern in a fast-paced FMCG environment.

The successful candidate will diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical faults across production lines, working with PLCs and safety systems.

Qualifications

• Time-served engineer with experience in FMCG manufacturing.
• Proven capability in electrical & mechanical maintenance.
• Experience with 3-phase electrical systems, motors, drives and PLC fault-finding.
• Ability to diagnose using drawings, diagnostics, and equipment history.

Responsibilities

• Reactive breakdown support to minimise disruption.
• Execution of planned and preventative maintenance activities.
• Electrical & Mechanical fault diagnosis using drawings, diagnostics, and equipment history.
• Identification and rectification of recurring equipment faults, including permanent corrective actions.
• Support for continuous improvement initiatives related to equipment reliability and uptime.
• Collaboration with production and engineering teams to ensure safe and efficient plant operation.
• Assistance with machinery modifications, upgrades, and repair works as required.
• All services delivered in compliance with site health, safety, and food hygiene standards.

Performance Objectives

• Reactive breakdown support to minimise disruption
• Execution of planned and preventative maintenance activities
• Electrical & Mechanical fault diagnosis using drawings, diagnostics, and equipment history

Profile

• Time-served engineer or demonstrable equivalent industry experience
• Multi Skilled Capabilities with proven capability in FMCG manufacturing environments
• Experience working with:
  • 3-phase electrical systems
  • Motors, drives, inverters, and safety circuits
  • I/O PLC fault-finding (Siemens / Allen Bradley or similar)
  • Automated food production and packaging equipment
• Able to work with minimal direction, managing workload and priorities independently
• Strong communication skills when liaising with site stakeholders
