Job summary

Virginia Mason Franciscan Health is seeking a Maintenance Engineer in Washington state. You will lead preventive maintenance, diagnose issues, and develop repair strategies to maximize asset life and uptime.

The role requires hands-on experience with mechanical/electrical systems, strong project management skills, and a proactive, analytical approach to minimize downtime and ensure operational integrity across our facilities.

Qualifications

  • Three years of maintenance-related work experience demonstrating requisite job knowledge/abilities.
  • One year of work experience at the core level of the job family or equivalent combination of experience/education.

Responsibilities

  • Performs preventive maintenance and repairs on mechanical/electrical equipment (boilers, generators, HVAC, and related systems).
  • Performs a variety of building maintenance tasks (carpentry, painting, plumbing).
  • Maintains accurate records and logs.
  • Tests and evaluates equipment prior to service.

Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Maintenance Engineer, you will be a critical technical leader, ensuring optimal performance, reliability, and longevity of facilities, equipment, and systems.

Every day, you will design and implement preventive maintenance programs, conduct root cause analyses, and develop repair strategies. You'll oversee projects, manage budgets, ensure compliance, and collaborate to improve efficiency and operational integrity.

To be successful in this role, you will possess a strong engineering foundation, advanced technical troubleshooting skills, proven project management abilities, and a proactive, analytical mindset to minimize downtime and maximize asset life.

  • Performs preventive maintenance and repairs on all mechanical/electrical equipment to include but not limited to boilers, emergency generators, HVAC and related equipment in a quality and timely manner.

  • Performs a variety of building maintenance tasks to include the skilled trades as required. (e.g. carpentry, painting, plumbing).

  • Completes and maintains accurate records and logs.

  • Tests and evaluates equipment prior to putting into service.

  • Orders and receives parts and materials to make necessary repairs on related equipment.

Job Requirements

Required

  • Three years of recent, progressively responsible maintenance-related work experience that demonstrates attainment of the requisite job knowledge skills/abilities. and

  • One year of work experience in the core level of the job family or any combination of experience or education that would demonstrate the ability to perform the duties of the position.

  • Boiler Operator: WA, upon hire

Pay Range

$32.38 - $48.17 /hour
