Job summary

The King and Prince Beach and Golf Resort on St. Simons Island, GA seeks a Maintenance Engineer to perform semi-skilled maintenance across HVAC, electrical, and plumbing systems to keep our hotel running smoothly.

The ideal candidate has at least 3 years of trades experience, a high school diploma, and the ability to read and communicate in basic English; willingness to work long hours and lift heavy objects.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
• At least 3 years’ practical experience in one or more of the technical trades (HVAC, Refrigeration, Plumbing, Electrical).
• Ability to read, write, speak, understand, and communicate in basic English.
• Long hours are sometimes required.
• Must be able to climb and descend stairs.
• Must be able to move quickly and agilely if a situation requiring quick assistance arises.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on hotel equipment including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, kitchen, laundry, boiler, pool, and public spaces.
• Collaborate with Housekeeping, F&B, Front Office to address day-to-day issues.
• Maintain and operate boiler, chiller, water treatment systems, and pool equipment.
• Ensure safety and compliance with relevant regulations and company policies.

Maintenance Engineer

Full Time St. Simons Island, GA, US

Position Summary: The Maintenance Engineer is expected to perform semi-skilled maintenance and repair duties for the property, including but not limited to HVAC, electrical, and plumbing skills.

Qualification Standards

Education & Experience:

• Previous customer service & hotel maintenance experience preferred.
• High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
• At least 3 years’ practical experience in one or more of the technical trades (HVAC, Refrigeration, Plumbing, Electrical, etc.)
• Ability to read, write, speak, understand, and communicate in basic English.
• Long hours are sometimes required.
• Must be able to climb and descend stairs.
• Must be able to move quickly and agilely if a situation requiring quick assistance arises.
• Ability to stand for long periods of time and walk long distances, bend, stretch, twist or reach with your body and arms.
• Multitask
• Heavy work - Exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 50 pounds of force frequently and/or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
• Ability to work under variable temperatures and noise levels.

Other abilities, skills, knowledge:

• Preference: Refrigeration, electrical and plumbing skills, boiler operation and maintenance skills, water treatment and chiller operation knowledge a plus.
• Must have a valid driver’s license.
• Preference: Working knowledge of all legal issues in compliance with CFC/EPA/ADA/IAQ/OSHA.

Duties & Functions

• Approach all encounters with guests and employees in a friendly, service-oriented manner.
• Ability to evaluate and select among alternative courses of action quickly and accurately, handle problems in the workplace, including anticipating, preventing, identifying, and solving problems as necessary.
• Work closely with various departments such as Housekeeping, F&B, and Front Office etc. to solve day to day operational issues.
• Perform preventive maintenance and necessary repairs and all hotel equipment, including kitchen, laundry, boiler, plumbing, pool, HVAC, electrical, public space, guest rooms and PM programs.
• Ability to manage the lights and grounds program.
• Make repairs to air conditioner(s) – change filters, clean coils, replace blower motors, etc.
• Maintain pool and spa – clean, vacuum.
• Take chiller and water heater readings and water samples.
• Replace TV’s and cable boxes and ability to program movie channel boxes.
• Replace light switches, receptacles, and light bulbs.
• Perform various plumbing repairs – open clogged drains, change FET washers, stems seats, cartridges, handles, drain fittings, etc.
• Trace and repair drain and water lines.
• Ability to work unsupervised and as a team.
• Make informed decisions regarding the department and the physical plant.
• Other duties as required.

This hotel functions 7 days a week, 24 hours a day. Schedules are made based on business levels and are subject to change.
