Job summary

D.O.M. magazine seeks an electrical technician to plan, install, troubleshoot, and repair electrical systems for aviation maintenance contexts.

You will lay out wiring, prepare diagrams, install conduit and panels, and test systems to ensure safety and performance. Strong reading of schematics and maintenance instructions is required, with 2+ years in industrial settings and a valid Journeyman license as preferred.

Qualifications

• Two-year degree in Electrical Technology or Journeyman Electrical License and at least two years of industrial field experience.
• Experience interpreting schematics, wiring diagrams and maintenance instructions.
• Experience with electronics and solid-state devices; CNC is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Plan installations and wiring layouts to minimize waste and ensure maintainability.
• Prepare sketches or follow diagrams for wiring and equipment layouts.
• Install and test electrical conduit, switches, relays, and circuit-breaker panels.
• Connect power cables, test circuits, and observe performance under operation.
• Troubleshoot, repair, and discuss design details with supervision and engineering.

SUMMARY

Plans layout, installs, troubleshooting and repair, wiring, electrical fixtures, apparatus, and control equipment by performing the following duties.

• Plans new or modified installations to minimize waste of materials, provide access for future maintenance, and avoid unsightly, hazardous, and unreliable wiring, consistent with specifications and local electrical codes.
• Prepares sketches showing location of wiring and equipment or follows diagrams or blueprints.
• Measures, cuts, bends, threads, assembles, and installs electrical conduit.
• Pulls wiring through conduit.
• Splices wires by stripping insulation from terminal leads, twisting or soldering wires together, and applying tape or terminal caps.
• Connects wiring to lighting fixtures, power equipment, and machinery.
• Installs control and distribution apparatus such as switches, relays, and circuit-breaker panels.
• Connects power cables to equipment.
• Tests continuity of circuit to ensure electrical compatibility and safety of components with testing instruments.
• Observes functioning of installed equipment or system to detect hazards and need for adjustments, relocation, and replacement.
• Repairs faulty equipment or systems.
• Discusses layouts, assembly procedures, problems with Supervision, Engineering and can draw sketches to clarify design details and functional criteria of electronic or electrical circuitry.
• Checks functioning of newly installed equipment to evaluate system performance under actual operating conditions.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are a representative of the minimum acceptable job qualifications: EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

• Two-year degree in Electrical Technology or related field or Journeyman Electrical License and a minimum of two years of industrial field experience.
• A minimum of 2 years of direct work experience in an industrial setup will substitute for the above requirement.
• Interpret documents such as Schematics, Wiring, Ladder diagrams, Operating and Maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Experience working with electronics and solid-state devices such drives
• Numerical Control or CNC experience is desired but not a requirement.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

• Ability to read and interpret documents in English such as safety rules and manuals, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to speak effectively to other employees and vendors.

MATHMATICAL SKILLS

• Ability to work with mathematical concepts and fundamentals of plane, solid geometry and trigonometry.
• Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

REASONING ABILITY

• Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
• Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES

• Ability to operate a fork truck and aerial lift.
• Ability to work with computers and specific software.

For informational purposes only, the range of pay for this role is $28 to $35 US Dollar (USD) Hourly based on a variety of factors. For informational purposes only, this role is eligible to participate in the Company's Quarterly Cash Bonus Plan, paid out at the quarterly bonus factor of 1X the Company's bonus multiple, based on the Company's performance in the applicable quarter. Employees will receive 80 hours paid time off every year. Employees will also receive 10 paid holidays. Employees (and their families) are eligible to participate in the companys medical, dental, vision, and basic life insurance. Employees are eligible to enroll in the Company's 401(k) plan.
