Job summary

The ESAB Group Inc. is hiring a Maintenance Electrician in New York. The role covers disassembly, repair, assembly and installation of stationary and portable electrical equipment, following the National Electrical Code and project prints.

You will work on wiring, motors, panels, lighting, generators, transformers, and assist maintenance personnel. A four-year related experience and HS diploma are required; teamwork and clear communication are essential.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required.
• Four years of electrical maintenance experience in industrial manufacturing.
• Experience with AC & DC drive controls and troubleshooting.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities.

Responsibilities

• Disassemble, repair, assemble, and install electrical equipment per NEC and prints.
• Install wiring for conduit, switches, fuses, relays, and control panels.
• Troubleshoot motors, drives, and control systems; diagnose faults.
• Maintain and service lighting, generators, transformers as required.
• Assist and train Electrician Apprentice; keep work area clean.

Maintenance Electrician

Job Description: The primary responsibility of the Maintenance Electrician is to disassemble, repair, assemble, and install all stationary and portable electrical equipment. Perform duties according to the National Electrical Code and be able to read and perform work from prints, schematics and/or instructions.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Wiring Installation – conduit, wire descriptions, sizes capacities, AC & DC circuits, troubleshooting, switches, fuses, controls and relays.
• Motors – installation, repair, troubleshooting of commutators and armatures, necessary repairs, brush installation.
• Panels and Controls – wiring of cabinets, relays, shunts and control equipment according to diagrams prepared by engineering.
• Lighting – ballast, incandescent, fluorescent, vapor proof, explosion proof installation according to engineering specifications, wiring replacement and maintenance and diagnosis of trouble.
• Generators and Transformers – install generators and transformers according to engineering specifications, wiring, repair, replacement, maintenance and troubleshooting.
• Keep the work area clean and return parts and equipment to designated storage areas. Complete forms and reports as directed by the supervisor.
• Assist and work directly with maintenance personnel when special needs arise. Perform minor maintenance work incidental to the Electrician’s job. Maintain lift truck batteries.
• Help train and/or direct the work of the Electrician Apprentice.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Four (4) years of experience directly related to electrical maintenance. Experience in an industrial manufacturing environment is a plus. Experience in AC & DC drive controls including troubleshooting.
• Must be a team worker, self–motivated, innovative; ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both written and verbal.
