Job summary

ESAB Corporation is seeking a Maintenance Electrician to disassemble, repair, assemble and install electrical equipment in an industrial setting. You will work with prints, schematics and NEC guidelines to ensure proper installation and operation of electrical systems.

Responsibilities include wiring, motor and panel work, lighting and generator installation, plus maintaining equipment and assisting maintenance staff. A strong team player with clear communication is essential.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Four (4) years of experience directly related to electrical maintenance.
  • Experience in AC & DC drive controls including troubleshooting.
  • Must be a team worker, self-motivated, innovative; ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both written and verbal.

Responsibilities

  • Disassemble, repair, assemble and install electrical equipment per NEC.
  • Wiring installation including conduit, switches, fuses and controls.
  • Install and troubleshoot motors, commutators, armatures, and brushes.
  • Wiring of panels and control equipment per engineering diagrams.
  • Install and maintain lighting, transformers, generators per specifications.
  • Keep work area clean and complete reports as directed by supervisor.
  • Assist maintenance personnel and train/direct Electrician Apprentice as needed.

Job description

Maintenance Electrician

The primary responsibility of the Maintenance Electrician is to disassemble, repair, assemble, and install all stationary and portable electrical equipment. Perform duties according to the National Electrical Code and be able to read and perform work from prints, schematics and/or instructions.

Responsibilities
  • Wiring Installation — Conduit, wire descriptions, sizes capacities, AC & DC circuits, troubleshooting, switches, fuses, controls, and relays.
  • Motors — installation, repair, troubleshooting of commutators and armatures, and necessary repairs, brush installation.
  • Panels and Controls — Wiring of cabinets, relays, shunts and control equipment according to diagrams prepared by Engineering.
  • Lighting — Ballast, incandescent, fluorescent, vapor proof, explosion proof, installation according to engineering specifications, wiring replacement and maintenance and diagnose trouble.
  • Generators and Transformers — Install generators and transformers according to engineering specifications, wiring, repair, replacement, and maintenance, and troubleshooting.
  • Responsible for keeping the work area clean and returning parts and equipment to designated storage areas. They will be required to complete forms and reports as directed by the supervisor.
  • The secondary responsibility of the Maintenance Electrician is to assist and work directly with the maintenance personnel when special needs arise. The Electrician will perform minor maintenance work which is incidental to the function of the Electrician’s job. Will also be required to maintain lift truck batteries. They may be called upon to help train and/or direct the work of the Electrician Apprentice.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Four (4) years of experience directly related to electrical maintenance. Experience in an industrial manufacturing environment is a plus.
  • Experience in AC & DC drive controls including troubleshooting.
  • Must be a team worker, self‑motivated, innovative; ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both written and verbal.
