Job summary

B&G Foods is seeking a skilled Electrical Technician for our New York facility to support and upgrade electrical and control systems. You will diagnose malfunctions, install, repair, and maintain machinery, and ensure safety across the plant while minimizing downtime.

The role requires hands-on experience with 3-phase systems and ladder logic, plus a strong focus on preventive maintenance and energy efficiency. Work schedule is Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM with competitive benefits.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in industrial/manufacturing environments.
• Ability to read electrical schematics, including ladder logic.
• Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose problems.
• Extensive knowledge of electrical and mechanical safety.
• Knowledge of 3-phase electrical distribution and pneumatic systems.

Responsibilities

• Install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain electrical systems and electronic equipment.
• Install and program VFDs, PLCs, and process instrumentation.
• Ensure all electrical systems meet safety requirements and hazards are mitigated.
• Develop and carry out preventive maintenance tasks for the plant electrical system.
• Develop and maintain a matrix of all equipment and power source locations.
• Label each device at the point of use and source.
• Respond to and repair electrical issues ensuring safe, professional, economical work with minimal downtime.
• Recommend energy-saving actions to Management to reduce energy consumption.
• Complete assigned Work Orders and document accordingly.

Job Description Summary:

This position is to provide technical support in the troubleshooting of electrical and control systems and machinery throughout the facility. Design, modify, and upgrade electrical control systems, along with diagnosing malfunctions, and installing, repairing, and maintaining machinery and equipment specific to the operation.

Schedule:

Monday - Friday 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM

Responsibilities:

• Ensure all electrical systems and equipment in the plant meet safety requirements and hazards are quickly identified and mitigated.
• Develop and carry out preventive maintenance tasks for the plant electrical system.
• Develop and maintain a matrix of all equipment and power source locations.
• Label each device at the point of use and source.
• Respond to and repair electrical issues ensuring the job is done in a safe, professional, and economical manner focusing on keeping downtime to a minimum.
• Recommend energy savings actions to Management to reduce overall electrical energy consumption.
• Complete assigned Work Orders and document accordingly.

Experience, Skills, Education:

• 5+ years' Experience in industrial or manufacturing environment.
• Ability to read electrical schematics, including ladder logic.
• Ability to use a computer, digital multi-meter, megger, loop calibrator, amp probe, and circuit tracer.
• Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose problems.
• Possess knowledge in all aspects of electrical and mechanical safety.
• Extensive knowledge of 3-phase electrical systems and distribution and pneumatic systems.

Compensation Range:

$30 - $38 per hour
