Maintenance Electrician

Job Summary
The Maintenance Electrician supports continuous production operations by installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical and control systems on manufacturing equipment. This role is critical to minimizing unplanned downtime, maintaining production throughput, and ensuring a safe working environment on the plant floor.
Key Responsibilities
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical faults on production lines, conveyors, robotics, CNC equipment, and packaging machinery
- Maintain and repair PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, servo drives, and industrial control panels (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, or similar)
- Perform preventive and predictive maintenance (PM/PdM) on electrical systems per CMMS schedules
- Respond to breakdown calls quickly to reduce line downtime; perform root-cause analysis and implement corrective actions
- Install and wire new production equipment during line changeovers, expansions, or capital projects
- Read and interpret electrical schematics, ladder logic, P&IDs, and OEM manuals
- Calibrate and troubleshoot sensors, encoders, and instrumentation used in automated processes
- Support plant utilities: transformers and distribution panels
- Ensure compliance with NEC, NFPA 70E (arc flash safety), lockout/tagout (LOTO), and OSHA regulations
- Maintain accurate maintenance logs, work orders, and parts inventory in CMMS
- Collaborate with production, engineering, and other maintenance trades (mechanical, millwright) to coordinate repairs and minimize disruption to output
- Provide on-call/emergency support for off-shift breakdowns as needed
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical/vocational training in industrial electrical systems preferred
- Master Electrician license or equivalent industrial electrical certification
- 5+ years of experience as an electrician in a manufacturing or industrial plant environment
- Strong knowledge of three-phase power, motor controls, VFDs, and industrial control circuits
- Hands‑on PLC troubleshooting experience (Allen‑Bradley RSLogix/Studio 5000, Siemens, or similar)
- Ability to read electrical schematics, ladder logic diagrams, and P&IDs
- Working knowledge of NEC, NFPA 70E, and OSHA industrial safety standards
- Experience with CMMS software (e.g., SAP PM, Maximo, Fiix) for work order tracking
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
- Comfortable working at heights, in confined spaces, near energized equipment, and in varying plant temperatures/noise levels
- Ability to stand, kneel, climb ladders/platforms, and work in physically demanding conditions for extended periods
- Must be able to work rotating shifts, weekends, holidays, and respond to emergency call‑ins
Preferred Skills
- Experience with robotics (FANUC, ABB, KUKA) or high-speed automated packaging lines
- Experience supporting TPM (Total Productive Maintenance) or Lean manufacturing environments
- Familiarity with predictive maintenance tools (thermal imaging, vibration analysis, ultrasonic testing)
- Competitive hourly wage based on experience, plus shift differential where applicable
