Job description

Position

Maintenance Electrician – Optical Communications segment, Corning.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Install, maintain, and repair industrial electrical systems, including motors, PLCs, control panels, and power distribution equipment.
  • Diagnose electrical issues using testing devices such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, and thermal imaging tools.
  • Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on production machinery to minimize downtime.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematics, blueprints, and technical diagrams.
  • Install and troubleshoot industrial automation systems, including sensors, VFDs, and relay logic.
  • Ensure compliance with electrical codes, safety standards, and company policies.
  • Collaborate with maintenance, engineering, and production teams to support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Document maintenance activities, repairs, and system modifications.
  • Assist with equipment upgrades, new installations, and plant expansion projects.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Proven experience as an industrial or manufacturing electrician.
  • Strong knowledge of industrial electrical systems, including 3‑phase power, control circuits, and automation.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and schematics.
  • Familiarity with PLCs (Allen Bradley, Siemens, or similar) and industrial automation equipment.
  • Proficiency with electrical testing and diagnostic tools.
  • Understanding of NFPA 70E, NEC, and OSHA safety standards.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a high‑demand environment.
  • Strong problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to run and install conduit.
  • Knowledge of Arc Flash and Arc Blast; ability to read Arc Flash labels.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Completion of an electrical apprenticeship or technical program preferred.
  • State or journeyman electrician license (strongly preferred).
  • 3+ years of industrial or manufacturing electrical experience.
Working Conditions
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Comfortable working at heights, in confined spaces, and around industrial machinery.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and climb for extended periods.
Compensation

Hourly rate: $28.00–$32.00, commensurate with experience, location, and other factors.
